Abstract
Gelişen bilim ve teknoloji, artan çevre sorunları ve iklim krizi gibi konular beraberinde terminolojiye çok sayıda
yeni terim ve kavram katmaktadır. Bu araştırmada, ekolojik (doğa-çevre), biyolojik ve teknolojik alanlarda kullanılan
güncel terim ve kavramların, seviye ve bölüm sınırlaması olmadan Türkiye çapında üniversite öğrencileri arasındaki
bilinme düzeyinin ortaya koyulması hedeflenmiştir. İlgili alanlarda belirlenen terimler 3 grupta sınıflandırılmış ve her
grupta 20 terim olmak üzere toplam 60 terim ve kavramdan oluşan bir anket hazırlanarak genel ağ sayfaları aracılığıyla
hedef kitleye sunulmuştur. Çalışma sonuçları, üniversite öğrencileri arasında ilk üç sırada en iyi bilinen terimin Besin
piramidi, Tür ve Yapay zekâ; en az bilinenlerin ise Biyomimikri, Hemerobi ve Biyoremediasyon olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca
katılımcıların terimleri bilme düzeyleri ile anketin girişinde sorulan okudukları bölüm, yaşadıkları yerleşim birimi,
cinsiyeti, çevreyle ilgili faaliyetleri, doğayı koruma konusundaki duyarlılıkları gibi bilgiler arasında kurulan ilişkiler
değerlendirilmiştir. Bu sorularla ilgili alınan sonuçlardan biri, botanik bahçe ziyaretinde bulunan öğrencilerin Herbaryum
terimini bilme düzeyinin beklendiği gibi yüksek olmamasıdır. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler yükseköğretimde okuyan
öğrencilerin bilimsel terimlere ve kavramlara karşı farkındalık düzeylerinin anlaşılması konusunda katkı sağlamaktadır.

Issues such as developing science and technology, increasing environmental problems and climate crisis add many new terms and concepts to the terminology. In this research, it is aimed to reveal the level of awareness among university students across Turkey, without the limitation of level and department, of the current terms and concepts used in ecological (nature-environment), biological and technological fields. The terms determined in the related fields are categorized in 3 groups and a questionnaire consisting of a total of 60 terms and concepts, 20 terms in each group, was prepared and presented to the target audience via internet forms. The results of the study showed that the most well-known terms in the top three ranks among the university students were Food pyramid, Species and Artificial intelligence, and the least known ones were Biomimicry, Hemerobia and Bioremediation. In addition, the relationships established between the level of knowing the terms of the participants and information in the entrance of the questionnaire such as the departments they studied at, the place of residence, gender, environmental activities, and sensitivity to nature conservation were evaluated. One of the results of these questions is that the level of knowing the term Herbarium of the students visiting the botanical garden is not as high as expected. The data obtained in the study contribute to the understanding of the level of awareness of the students studying in higher education towards scientific terms and concepts.
