Abstract

Operating Room Nursing Objective: This study was planned to evaluate the items which effects to operating room nurses professional attitude at occupation and trying to understand how this professionality effects to intraoperative nursing care quality. 2 hospitals which have already qualified with quality approvals were chosen on Bursa. Study was realized with 250 patients which were experienced operations during study interview and 110 operating room nurses between 1st of June – 30th of November 2014. Material-Method: Data was accumulated via “Good Perioperative Nursing Care Scale” and “Inventory of Professional Attitude at Occupation”. Also patient and nurse identification documents are developed by researcher. Number, percentile, t-test, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis were used in the analysis of data. Results: Good perioperative nursing level and professional attitude at occupation on operating room nurses (r=0,465 p=0,000, p˂0,05) have positively significant relations. Professional attitude at occupation has significant relation with physical care (r=0,364 p=0,000), giving information (r=0,388 p= 0,000), being supportive (r= 0,385 p=0,000), region (r=0,526 p=0,000) and nursing process (r=0,359 p=0,000) which are sub-levels of good perioperative nursing care. But also being respectful (r=0,111 p=0,251) and staff chracteristics (r=0,034 p=0,729) has meaningless values on comparison between professional attitude at occupation and good perioperative nursing care scale. GPNCS mean value of patients (126,28±29,62) has more than nurses (102,02±39,85) and gap between both values (t=10,630 p=0,000, p˂0,05) was statictically significant meaning. Conclusion: It was found operational room nurses have high professional attitude at occupation; patients and nurses were satisfied by intraoperative nursing care, this assessment is significantly influenced by both patient and nurse properties and correlation was found on professional attitude at occupation and intraoperative nursing care quality. Key words: operating room nurse, professional attitude at occupation, intraoperative nursing care, operating room
