Sinemada zihinsel engelli bireyin psikolojisi : uzun uyku

Abstract

Bu tez çalışması, kurmaca filmlerde zihinsel engelli bireylerin psikolojisine odaklanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, başkarakteri zihinsel engelli bireyler olan sinema tarihinin önemli filmleri amaçlı örneklem olarak seçilerek doküman analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Çalışmanın amacı, özgün bir sanat formu olan kısa film formatının imkânlarından yararlanarak zihinsel engelli bireylerin psikolojisini daha gerçekçi ve empatik bir yaklaşımla yansıtmaktır. Bu çalışma kapsamında gerçekleştirilen Uzun Uyku filminin başkarakteri Cevat (18), ölüm gerçeğini idrak edebilecek bir zihinsel yeterliliğe sahip değildir. Babasının ani ölümünü nasıl anlamlandıracağını bilemez. Amcası Hüseyin (52), ancak beş yaşındaki bir çocuğun zekâsına sahip olan Cevat’ın süreci daha sancısız bir şekilde atlatmasına yardımcı olmak için bu ölümü “uzun uyku” olarak isimlendirir. Ne var ki Cevat, bu metaforu kendi zihinsel kapasitesinin izin verdiği ölçüde yorumlar. Uyuyan birinin her hâlükârda uyandırılabileceğini düşündüğü için olaylar beklenmedik bir yönde gelişir.

This thesis focuses on the psychology of mentally disabled individuals in fictional films. In this study, important films from the history of cinema, whose main characters are mentally disabled individuals, were selected as a purposeful sample and subjected to document analysis. The aim of the study is to reflect the psychology of mentally disabled individuals with a more realistic and empathetic approach by taking advantage of the opportunities of the short film format, which is an original art form. Cevat (18), the main character of the film The Long Sleep, which was produced within the scope of this study, does not have the mental capacity to comprehend the reality of death. He does not know how to make sense of his father's sudden death. His uncle Hüseyin (52) calls this death the long sleep to help Cevat, who has only the intelligence of a five-year-old child, get through the process more painlessly. However, Cevat interprets this metaphor to the extent that his mental capacity allows. Events develop in an unexpected direction because he thinks that a sleeping person can be woken up in any case.
