The Views of Computer Users About Pirated Software

Abstract

Bu arafltırmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki bilgisayar kullanıcılarının korsan yazılım kullanı- mı hakkındaki görüfllerinin belirlenmesidir. Arafltırmanın verileri çeflitli web siteleri üzerinde oluflturulan bir formla ve bire bir görüflmelerle toplanmıfltır. Veri toplama aracı olarak arafltırmacılar tarafından gelifltirilen korsan/kaçak yazılım hakkındaki görüfllerini belirleme anketi kullanılmıfltır. 794 bilgisayar kullanıcısından elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesi amacıyla Kay-Kare Testi kullanılmıfltır. Arafltırma sonucunda; kaçak/korsan yazılımlar konusunda farkındalık yaratmaya ve toplumu bilinçlendirmeye yönelik e¤itsel anlamda yayımlar ve programların özellikle gençlere sunulması, bununla ilgili özelde lise müfredatına etik ve ahlaki sorunlar, güncel etik problemlerle/meselelerle ilgili “genel etik” dersinin konulması; bunun yanında yazılım üreticilerinin -özellikle e¤itim amaçlı kullanılacak olan yazı- lımlarda- lisanslara ekonomik kolaylıklar sa¤laması gibi birtakım öneriler getirilmifltir. Face to face interviews were conducted and a web site was designed to collect the data through a form. Data were collected by using the Pirated Software Behavior Questionnaire which was developed by the researchers. 794 computer users completed the questionnaire and chi-square test was used to specify the dependency between independent variables and views of users about pirated software. At the end of the study, suggestions were given. It is hoped that such studies help the society become conscious about pirated software. Some of the suggestions are preparing educational broadcasts for young people; integrating ethics across the entire college curriculum, and teaching ethical and moral issues in higher schools.
