Publication: Askeri lisede öğrenci merkezli öğretim ve kavramsal öğrenmenin biyoloji dersinde öğrenci başarısına etkisi
Abstract
Bu çalışma , Kuleli Askeri Lisesi'nde öğrenci başarısını arttırmayı hedefleyerek, öğrenci merkezli öğretim ve kavramsal öğrenme stratejilerinin Biyoloji derslerinde uygulanması ile öğrenci başarısında geleneksel yönteme göre başarı farkı olup olmadığını belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Çalışma deneyseldir ve İstanbul Kuleli Askeri Lisesi'nde , Lise 1 nci sınıflarda hücre kavramları konusunda,toplam100 öğrenci ile 6 haftalık bir öğretim süresinde yapılmıştır. Bu öğrencilerden,25 kişilik iki sınıfta 50 öğrenci ile, deney grubuna konunun önceden hazırlanmış , kavram haritasına göre öğrenme hedefleri önceden belirlenen ders planı ile öğrenci merkezli ders uygulanması yapılmıştır.Geri kalan 25 kişilik iki sınıfta ise, 50 öğrenci ile kontrol grubuna öğretmen merkezli hücre kavramları öğretimi uygulanmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin hücre bilgileri ön bilgi testi ve son bilgi testleri ile ölçülerek istatiksel yöntemlerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Veriler istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildiğinde; genel olarak öğrencilerin bu öğretim süresinde hücre konusunu kavramsal öğrenemedikleri ve kısa süreli öğrenci merkezli hücre kavramları öğretiminin,geleneksel yöntemle öğrenim gören öğrencilere göre anlamlı derecede bir başarı farkı meydana getirmediği fakat deney grubu öğrencilerinin kendi hazırladıkları bölümlerle ilgili sorulardaki başarılarının hem kontrol grubu ile hem de deney grubu içindeki diğer konuları hazırlayan öğrencilere göre istatiksel olarak anlamlı derecede bir başarı farkı meydana getirdiği görülmüştür.
The goal of this project is to determine whether there is a difference of success among the cadets according to the traditional methods by applying the student centered education and conceptional learning methods in biology lessons with the aim of increasing the success of the cadets in Kuleli Military High School. The experimental study has been carried out in Kuleli Military High School at İstanbul on 100 first grade cadets for 6 weeks.The experimental and the control groups of 50 students, were consist of 2 classes of 25 students each . The course work applied to the experimental group with a plan which is designed according to the prepared concept map of the course subject. The course subject was cell structure and function The knowledge about cell of the cadets in experiment and control group were compared with the statistical methods by testing pre and last knowledge tests. When datas were examined, it was understood that during that education time generally students could not learn the subject of cell conceptionaly and the education of cell concepts by the student centered method in a short time does not make a great difference of success when it is compared to the traditional methods.But, it is obvious that the success of the cadets in the experiment group about the questions from the parts that have been prepared by themselves is statistically considerable by the time it is compared to both the cadets in control group and the cadets in experiment group who prepared the other subjects.
