Kendini ifade aracı olarak dövmeler : nitel bir araştırma

Abstract

KENDİNİ İFADE ARACI OLARAK DÖVMELER: NİTEL BİR ARAŞTIRMA Dövmeler beden üzerine işlenen kalıcı semboller olarak anlam iletiminde tarih boyunca önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Geleneksel dövmelerde ağırlık kazanan grup aidiyetinin sembolize edilmesi modern dövmelerde yerini postmodern beden teorileri ile uyumlu olarak bireysel kimliğin yansıtılmasına bırakmıştır. Ancak, yaygınlaşma eğilimi göstermeden ve benliğin sunum aracısı haline gelmeden önce dövmelerin tarihsel bağlamda bir damgalama aracı olarak kullanıldığını ve akademik alanda çoğunlukla suç ile ilişkilendirildiğini söylemek mümkündür. Toplum tarafından genellikle kabul görmeyen bu gruplarla uzun dönem kurulan bu bağ sonucunda, dövmeleri günümüzde iletişimsel yanı nedeniyle sıkılıkla kullanmakta olan orta sınıfın onları içselleştirme süreci zaman almıştır. Çalışma kapsamında; dövmelerin dövme sahibi bireyler için birer ifade ve iletişim aracı olarak işlev görüp görmediği, Türkiye özelinde dövmenin algılanış biçimi ve bu algının dövmeli bireyler üzerindeki etkileri ölçümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda yürütülen nitel çalışmada araştırma modeli olarak fenomenoloji deseni tercih edilmiş, ardından on iki katılımcı ile yarı biçimlendirilmiş derinlemesine mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örneklemin belirleniminde amaçlı örneklem yöntemlerinden ölçüt örneklem tercih edilmiştir. Görüşmeler sonucunda elde edilen veriler içerik analizi metotlarından kategorisel analiz ile incelenmiş, bunun ardından varılan yargılar sonuç bölümü içerisinde tartışılmıştır.

TATTOOS AS A MEDIUM OF SELF EXPRESSION: A QUALİTATİVE RESEARCH Tattoos has played an important role through history in transmission of the meanings as being permanent symbols inscribed into the skin. Symbolization of a social group which gained importance in traditional tattoos has been left to the reflection of the identities in modern tattoos in line with the postmodern body theories. However, before tattoos demonstrated a tendency towards being common and became a tool for the representation of the self, it is possible to say that they have been used as a tool for stigmatization and mostly attached with crime in academic field in a historical context. This long time attachment with these groups which are mostly unaccapted by society, the process of the internalization of tattoos by middle class, which commonly prefers tattos because of their communicational features, took time. Within the scope of the study, whether tattoos function as an expression and communication tool or not, how the tattoos are being perceived in Turkey and the effects of this perception over individuals has been tried to be analyzed. In accordance with this aim in the qualitative study phenomenology had been preferred as a research method, after that semi structured in depth interview was conducted with twelve participants. In the procedure of determining the sample, criterion sampling methodology among purposive sampling methods has been preferred. The data collected from these interviews has been analyzed with one of the content analysis methods called category analysis, later on judments made has been criticized in conclusion section.
