Muhammed Teymur'un kısa öykülerinin teknik ve tematik açıdan incelenmesi

Abstract

Fransızların 1798 yılında Mısır’a gerçekleştirdikleri sefer ile orada yeni bir dönem başlamıştır. Bu sefer, Doğu ile Batı arasında önceki dönemlerde farklı şekillerde zuhur eden ilmî ve kültürel ilişkilerin güçlenip hız kazanmasını sağlamıştır. Bu ilişkilerin etkisini gösterdiği alanlardan birisi de edebiyat olmuştur. Söz konusu etkileşim, Arap dünyasında Batı’nın kültür ve edebiyatını öğrenen ediplerin yetişmesine imkân tanımıştır. Bu edebiyatçılar Batı’da ortaya çıkan modern roman ve kısa öykü gibi edebî türlerin gerek tercüme gerekse uyarlama yollarıyla Doğu edebiyatına intikal etmesinde etkili olmuşlar, sonraki dönemlerde de bu türlerde özgün eserler ortaya çıkarılmasına zemin hazırlamışlardır. XIX. yüzyılın sonu ile XX. yüzyılın başlarında yaşamış olan Mısırlı edip ve yazar Muhammed Teymur, Batı edebiyatının tesiri altında kalarak Arap edebiyatında tiyatro ve kısa öyküyle ilgili özgün çalışmalara imza atmış ve bu alanlarda öncü sayılan bir isim olmuştur. Bu çalışmada söz konusu edebiyatçının hayatı ve edebî serüveniyle birlikte telif ettiği kısa öyküler teknik ve tematik yönleriyle incelenecek, bu bağlamda yazarın Arap edebiyatına katkıları tespit edilmeye çalışılacaktır.

With the expedition of the French to Egypt in 1798, a new era began there. This expedition enabled the scientific and cultural relations between the East and the West, which had emerged in different ways in the previous periods, to strengthen and gain momentum. One of the fields in which these relations have shown their influence has been literature. This interaction has provided the education of literary figures who learned the culture and literature of the West in the Arab world. These men of letters were influential in the transfer of literary genres such as modern novels and short stories that emerged in the West to Eastern literature, both through translation and adaptation, and laid the groundwork for the creation of original works in these genres in the following periods. The Egyptian literary and writer Muhammad Taymur, who lived at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, was under the influence of Western literature and produced original works on theater and short stories in Arabic literature and became a pioneer in these fields. In this study, the life and literary adventure of the aforementioned man of letters will be discussed, and then his short stories will be examined from technical and thematic aspects, and in this context, the author's contributions to Arabic literature will be tried to be determined.
