Publication: Benedict'in The Rule isimli eseri çerçevesinde ruhbânlık ve tekke hayatına bir bakış
Abstract
There have always been claims in orientalist sources that Sufism was influenced by Christian monasticism. This claim was based upon the similarities of these two movements on the institutional level. However, there are not many rese arches on the texts of these two movements. This article intends to compare St. Benedict’s The Rule with Suhrawardi’s Awarif, since both these works were written to organize the spiritual life, the latter in the sufi lodges and the former in the monasteries. It will endeavor to compare them and show both the diffe rences as well as similarities of sufism with monastic life.
