Abstract
Bu çalışmada, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ilk yıllarındaki ilkokul tarih ders kitaplarında, Selçukluların nasıl anlatıldığını ortaya
koymak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarihsel araştırma kullanılmıştır. Cumhuriyetin ilk
In this study, it is aimed to reveal how the Seljuks were described in primary school history textbooks in the first years of the Republic of Turkey. In the study, historical research, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Primary school history textbooks in the first years of the Republic (1924-1928) constitute the basic data of the research and these data were obtained through document analysis. Then, in line with the aim of the research, six different primary school textbooks taught in primary schools at that period were analysed. In the primary school history textbooks examined within the scope of the research, it was determined that the foundation process of the Seljuks, military activities, the activities of the Seljuks in Anatolia, the relations of the Seljuks with the Crusaders and Mongols, the Seljuk culture and civilisation were covered. Based on the study, it has been observed that the history of the Great Seljuks is limited to the establishment of the state, the periods of Tuğrul Bey, Alparslan and Melikşah, the Seljuks of Turkey are given more space, and the role of the Seljuks in the process of Turkish identity and the homelandisation of Anatolia is emphasised.
