Lübnan çocuk edebiyatında neoliberal özne inşası

Abstract

Bu tez çocuk edebiyatının, modern dönemden itibaren çocukluğu inşa etmenin önemli bir aracı olarak öne çıktığı ve farklı ideolojileri endoktrine etmek için kullanılageldiği kabulüne dayanır. Çalışmanın amacı 1992’den bu yana Lübnan devletinin neoliberalizmi benimsemesinin, çocuk edebiyatı üzerinden nasıl bir neoliberal çocuk ideali yaratmaya katkıda bulunduğunun ve bu idealin toplumsal normlar ve değerler üzerindeki etkilerinin derinlemesine incelenmesidir. Bunu yaparken neoliberalizmi, birey üzerindeki etkileri bakımından ele alıp psikopolitik bir yönetim biçimi olarak analiz eden Foucaultcu literatüre dayanır. Eleştirel söylem analizi yönetimini kullanarak yaptığım incelemeler, 1992’den beri Lübnan çocuk edebiyatında inşa edilen çocuk öznenin hâkim paradigmanın dönüşümüne paralel olarak zaman içinde değiştiğini göstermiştir. Bu değişimi göstermek üzere, 1992-2020 yılları arasını inceleyen çalışmamda, Lübnan çocuk edebiyatındaki hikayeleri, içerdikleri söylemlere göre başlıca iki döneme ayırdım: İlk dönemde, toplumsal çocuk öznesinin nasıl inşa edildiğini analiz ederken, ikinci dönemde mevcut öznenin nasıl çözüldüğünü, yerine, neoliberalizmin bireysellik ve girişimcilik söylemleriyle donatılmış yeni çocuk öznenin nasıl inşa edildiğini göstermeye çalıştım.

This thesis is based on the premise that children's literature has emerged as a significant tool in shaping childhood since the modern era, and it has been historically utilized to indoctrinate various ideologies. The objective of this study is to examine how the adoption of neoliberalism as an economic development policy by the Lebanese state since the 1990s has contributed to the creation of a neoliberal child ideal through children's literature, and to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impacts of this ideal on societal norms and values. Pursuing this objective, it draws upon the Foucauldian literature, that analyze neoliberalism as a psychopolitical mode of governance. The examinations I have conducted through the application of critical discourse analysis, reveal that the constructed child figure in Lebanese children's literature has evolved over time in parallel with the transformation of the dominant paradigm since 1992. To demonstrate this, in my study, which covers the period from 1992 to 2020, I categorized the stories in Lebanese children's literature into two primary periods based on the discourses they contained: In the first period I analyze how the societal child subject is constructed, while in the second period, I endeavor to demonstrate the dissolution of the existing subject and the construction of a new child subject infused with the discourses of individualism and entrepreneurship promoted by neoliberalism.
