Abstract
ÖZET Alâmetler anlamına gelen şeâir Allah'a boyun eğmenin işareti olan her şeydir. Genelde hac ile ilgili ibadetleri anlatmak için kullanılan şeâir bazen ibadetin kendisine bazen de ibadetin yapıldığı yere denir. Ezan, cemaat ile namaz, bu cümleden olarak Cuma ve bayram namazları ve hac dinin şeâirindendir. Aynı şekilde camiler, minareler, hacdaki ibadet ve özel yerleri de alâmet ve işaretlerdir ki, Safa ve Merve de bunlardandır. Allah'ın şeâiri, O'nun, kendisine ibadete vesile olmak üzere haklarında saygı göstermeye, kulluk vazifelerini onlar vesilesiyle yapmaya insanları davet ettiği eserlerdir. Bunlara gösterilen saygı da, onlar hakkında gösterilen kusur da, Allah'a karşı yapılmış sayılır. Onlar müminlerin varlıklarıyla öyle kaynaşmışlardır ki kalplerini kesip parçalamadıkça kendilerinden ayrılmazlar. Kur'ân, Kâbe, Peygamber, namaz, ezan gibi. Şeâire yapılan atıf ve vurgudan amaç inananların dikkatini bu yükümlülüklerin manevî anlam ve önemine çekmek onu, bu tür unsurları putperestçe bir düşüncesizlik içinde birer fetiş haline sokmaması yönünde uyarmak olduğu görülmüştür.
This dissertation examines the concept of shaa'ir (symbol) in the Islamic thought with a special reference to major exegesis of Islamic history. The word shaa'ir means everything that signifies submission to God. It is mostly used for assigning the rituals of pilgrimage, yet it is sometimes used for assigning worships, or the place where rituals are performed. The call or prayer, congregational prayers, Friday and religious festival prayers, and pilgrimage are all named as symbols of religion. Mosques, minarets, and particular places of rituals in Mecca as well as the locations of Safa and Marwa in the same holy city are considered to be symbols of religion. In Islamic thought the shaa'ir of Allah is believed to be the signs through which Allah calls His servant to worship Him, and commit themselves to the path of their Lord. And it is therefore believed that any act that respects or disrespects them is meant to be for or against Allah. The references and emphasis made to shaa'ir aim to draw people's attention to their responsibilities, and not to ignore the spiritual meaning and importance of these symbols of religion.
