Rıza Tevfik'in İslam entelektüel geleneğine bakışı

Abstract

Bu çalışmada çağdaş Türk düşüncesinin ilk dönemi olarak kabul edilebilecek olan Osmanlının son dönem düşünürlerinin İslam entelektüel geleneğine bakışı dönemin çok yönlü şahsiyeti Rıza Tevfik üzerinden incelenmiştir. Rıza Tevfik’in felsefe ile ilgili eserlerinden yola çıkarak bu düşünürün İslam entelektüel geleneğine bakışı ortaya konulmuş ve İslam entelektüel geleneğinin yirminci yüzyılda modern Türk düşüncesindeki anlamı ve yeri değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışma genel olarak bir düşünce tarihi çalışması olup mukayeseli bir yöntem izlenmiştir. Mukayese edilen modern Türk düşüncesi ile klasik dönem İslam düşüncesi arasındaki süreklilik ve kopmalar Rıza Tevfik’in eserleri ile sınırlı olarak analiz edilmiştir. İslam entelektüel geleneğinin felsefe tarihi ve modern dönemdekianlamını Rıza Tevfik’in eserleri üzerinden sorgulamayı amaçlayan bu çalışmada Rıza Tevfik’in konu ile ilgili eserleri incelendiğinde onun İslam entelektüel geleneğini özgün olmayan, skolastik ve etki alanı Orta Çağla sınırlı olan, sahip olduğu agnostik anlayış dışında modern dönem için söyleyecek bir sözü olmayan bir gelenek olarak tanımladığı görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada Rıza Tevfik’in fikirleri üzerinden çağdaş Türk düşüncesinin İslam entelektüel geleneğine bakışı ele alınmıştır. Ancak tek bir düşünür üzerinden genel yargılara varmak sağlıklı değildir. Çağdaş Türk düşüncesinin İslam entelektüel geleneğine bakışını etraflıca değerlendirebilmek için dönemin üç önemli akımı olan Batıcılık, İslamcılık ve Türkçülük akımının temsilcilerinin fikirlerinin mukayeseli olarak değerlendirilmesi bu konuda daha sağlıklı yargılara ulaşmayı sağlayabilir.

In this study, the view of the late thinkers of the Ottoman Empire, which can be considered the first period of modern Turkish thought, on the Islamic intellectual tradition was examined through the versatile personality of the period, Rıza Tevfik. Based on the works of Rıza Tevfik on philosophy, this thinker's view of the Islamic intellectual tradition has been revealed and the meaning and place of the Islamic intellectual tradition in modern Turkish thought in the twentieth century has been evaluated. Thisstudy is generally a history of thought study and a comparative method has been followed. The continuity and breaks between the compared modern Turkish thought and classical Islamic thought have been analyzed in a limited way with the works of Rıza Tevfik. In this study, which aims to question the meaning of the Islamic intellectual tradition in the history of philosophy and themodern period through the works of Rıza Tevfik, when examining the works of Reza Tevfik on the subject, it was seen that he defines the Islamic intellectual tradition as a tradition that is unoriginal, scholastic and whose sphere of influence is limited to the Middle Ages, which has nothing to say for the modern period except for the agnostic understanding ıt has. In this study, the perspective of contemporary Turkish thought on the Islamic intellectual tradition is discussed through the ideas of Rıza Tevfik. However, it is not healthy to come to general judgment sthrough a single thinker. In order to thoroughly evaluate the view of contemporary Turkish thought on the Islamic intellectual tradition, a comparative evaluation of the ideas of representatives of the three important currents of the period, Westernism, Islamism and Turkism, can lead to healthier judgments on this issue.
