Şirketlerde trafik güvenliği uygulamaları ve sürücülerin trafik ihlal davranışları

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın en genel amacı, şirketlerde trafik güvenliğine verilen önem derecesinin o şirkette çalışan sürücülerin ihlâl davranışları üzerinde etkisi olup olmadığını incelemektir. Sürücülerin ihlâl davranışlarını etkileyen faktörler, sürücü istihdam eden firmaların trafik güvenliği konusuna verdikleri önem derecesi, Planlı Davranış Kuramı (Ajzen, 1985, 1991) bileşenlerinden olan tutumlar, öznel normlar, algılanan davranış kontrolü ile çeşitli durumlarda ihlâlin kabul derecesine göre incelenmiştir. Ayrıca kişilerin heyecan arama ve kadercilik düzeylerinin de trafik ihlal davranışlarını ne yönde etkilediği ele alınmıştır. Bu amaçla, şehiriçi öğrenci ve personel taşımacılığı sektöründe faaliyet gösteren 33 firmanın 334 sürücüsüne anket formları uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, Şirket tarafından rapor edilen trafik güvenliği uygulamaları ile ihlâl davranışları, tutum, öznel norm, algılanan davranışsal kontrol ve durumsal tutumlar arasında mânidar bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Ancak, sürücüler tarafından algılanan trafik güvenliği uygulamaları ihlâl davranışlarını mânidar olarak yordamaktadır. İhlallere yönelik tutumlar, öznel normlar ve algılanan davranışsal kontrol ihlâl davranışlarının güçlü yordayıcıları olarak bulunmuştur. Kişiler acelesi olduğu durumlarda ihlâli kabul etmektedirler. Bir kişilik özelliği olarak heyecan arama düzeyinin algılanan davranışsal kontrol ile birlikte ihlâl davranışlarını artırdığı bulunmuştur. Kadercilik ise öznel norm ve algılanan davranış kontrolü ile etkileşime girerek ihlâl davranışlarını artırmaktadır. Tüm sonuçlar literatür bulguları ışığında ve ülkemizdeki trafik sorununa yönelik yapılabilecekler bakımından tartışılmıştır.

The main aim of this study is to analyze whether the concern for traffic safety in companies has an effect on violations committed by the drivers working in that company or not. The factors affecting the drivers’ violations were examined with respect to the degree of importance companies attributed to the safety issue; to the attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control which are components of the Theory of Planned Behavior, (Ajzen, 1985, 1991); and to the situational acceptance of violations named situational attitudes. In addition, it was also examined how the levels of sensation seeking and fatalism moderate the traffic violations. In this regard, questionnaires were applied to the 334 drivers employed by 33 companies in the sector of student and personnel transportation. Results revealed that reported implementations of traffic safety practices by the companies do not significantly predict violations, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and situational attitudes. However, the perceived implementations did significantly predict the drivers’ violations. Attitudes towards violations, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control were also found as the strong predictors of the violations. It was also found that, drivers tend to accept the violations when they are in hurry. Results concerning moderators revealed that sensation seeking inreases violations when interacting with perceived behavioral control; and fatalism increases violations when interacting with subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Results are discussed with respect to the contributions and practical implications for the solution of the traffic problem in our country.
