İNGILIZ GENERAL ALLENBY’NIN FILISTIN VE SURIYE’DEKI FAALIYETLERI

Abstract

Büyük Britanya, Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda, Avrupa’da savaştığı cepheler dışında, en yoğun çarpışmalarını Osmanlı ordusuna karşı yapmıştır. Aynı şekilde Osmanlı ordusunun Birinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında, en geniş coğrafi alanlarda, en fazla cephede ve en yoğun çatışmaları da Britanya ordusu ile olmuştur. Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda Osmanlı ordusunun mağlup olduğu Filistin ve Suriye Cephesi’nde, İngiliz ordularına komuta eden General Allenby ve onun askeri stratejisi üzerine Türkiye’de yeterli araştırmaların yapılmadığı görülmektedir. General Allenby, yönettiği ordu ile Ortadoğu’da stratejik açıdan değerli şehirleri ele geçirip Osmanlı ordusunun bu bölgelerden çekilmesini sağlayarak önemli bir rol üstlenmiştir. Allenby, hem İngiliz hem de Ortadoğu tarihinin önemli figürlerinden biridir. O, Türk tarihinde Filistin ve Suriye başta olmak üzere petrol yatakları ve kutsal mekanların da bulunduğu büyük bir coğrafyayla birlikte binlerce insan kaybını temsil etmektedir. Allenby, İngiliz tarihi açısından ise apayrı bir yerde durmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı ordusuna karşı 100 yıl önce zaferler kazanan General Allenby’nin hem kişiliği hem de askeri başarısını incelemektir. Buradan hareket ile çalışma “Mısır Sefer Kuvvet Komutanı Olarak Allenby”, “General Allenby Filistin’de”, “General Allenby’nin Raporu” olarak alt başlıklardan oluşmaktadır.

Great Britain had its most intense fighting against the Ottoman army in the World War I, except for the war fronts in Europe. Likewise, the Ottoman Army’s most intense battles were with the British army in the widest geographical areas and the most frontier during the First World War. It seems that there is no appropriate research in Turkey on General Allenby, who commanded the British armies in Palestine and Syria where the Ottoman armies were defeated in the First World War, and his military strategy. Allenby’s significance in the Ottoman history derives from the fact that he took over the cities with very high strategic importance in the Middle East and put an end the Ottoman superiority in the region by ensuring that the Ottoman army withdrew from these regions. Allenby is one of the most important figures in the history of both British and Middle East. He represents the loss of thousands of people in the Turkish history having a great geography including oil deposits and sacred sites, particularly in Palestine and Syria. Allenby also stands in a different place for British history. The aim of this study is to examine both the personality and the military success of Allenby, who won the victories against the Ottoman army 100 years ago. From this
