DİVÂN-I HÜMÂYUN ÇAVUŞLARI Osmanlı saray teşkilâtının birun denilen dış hizmet birimlerinden biri olan divân-ı hümâyun çavuşları, merkez ve taşra hizmetlerinde kullanılan ve çok geniş görev çeşitliliğine sahip bir cemaattir. XVI. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında ulûfeli ve timarlı olmak üzere iki kısma ayrılan çavuşlar, önceleri genellikle ulaklık, muhafızlık ve teşrifat işlerinde hizmet ederlerken, zamanla bu görev salahiyetlerini daha farklı vazifelerle genişlettiler. Bu çalışma, Osmanlı kaynaklarında sıkça geçmesine rağmen kim oldukları, kaç kişi oldukları, nereden geldikleri ve ne yaptıkları bilinmeyen divân çavuşlarını ve bu çavuşların tarihî süreç içerisinde geçirdikleri değişimi anlatmaktadır. ABSTRACT THE ÇAVUŞES OF THE DİVÂN-I HÜMÂYUN The çavuşes of the divân-ı hümâyun being one members of the outside service (birun) of the Ottoman palace organization was a class that was used for central and province services and having very much duty variation. By the second half of the fifteen century, there were already two types of çavuş: those that were paid by the treasury, called ulûfeli (pay-drawers) and those that subsisted on fiefs, called timarlı. The çavuşes generally had been employed in the first centuries as messengers, users and guards. But this duty came in later times to be performed by various other functionaries. In spite of taking part at the Ottoman sources frequently, the çavuşes aren't know justly about how many person they are and where they come from and what they work on. In this study, the çavuşes of the divân and their variation during the historical process have been explained.
