Abstract
Mobile applications are actively used in every field in today's information age. The use of these technologies in the promotion of cultural heritage is of great importance in the transfer of culture from generation to generation. Creative and innovative methods are now needed instead of traditional methods in cultural heritage education. Mobile application technology offers unique opportunities especially for our students who do not have the opportunity to experience museum education by travelling and experiencing on-site. For these reasons, in this research, a syllabus that can be processed with innovative and creative opportunities in museum education has been prepared with the Google Art and Culture mobile application, which is one of the museum applications. Written texts, detailed examinable visuals, narrated historical events, videos, animations, audio guides, 3D excursions, creativity games, collection creation and entertainment options were used to teach the museum education course. The main purpose of the research is to examine the effect of mobile applications on the Museum Education course. In this context, in order to measure the effect of mobile applications in the course, a mobile applied museum education course was taught with 10 volunteers selected from the 11th grade students of a state school. The study was handled as action research, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Data collection tools were researcher and student diaries, programme evaluation form and student products evaluation scale. The research was evaluated by qualitative descriptive analysis method. In the application, it was concluded that mobile applied teaching adds value to cultural heritage education and promotion, increases interest and curiosity in learning, entertains, as a result of its creative possibilities and high technology usage, it provides a love of history, museum awareness, and concretises learning by changing the visual and sensory perception of space.
