XYZ kuşakları karakteristik özelliklerinin siyasal katılımdaki rolü: İstanbul ili örneği

Abstract

Yönetim şekli demokrasi olan ülkelerde siyasal süreçte işleyen mekanizmaları etkilemek ve yönlendirmek bireylerin siyasal katılım sürecine katılmalarıyla etkilidir. Demokratik ülkelerin modernleşmesinin ilk koşulu siyasal katılımdır ve siyasal katılım karar almada önemli rol oynamaktadır. Siyasal katılım, bireyin toplumsal varlığa yönelik tutumunu ve bu tutumu belirleyen faktörleri içeren farklı bir süreçtir. Siyasal katılımı etkileyen bu faktörler kişiden kişiye toplumdan topluma farklılık göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada İstanbul seçim bölgelerinde ikamet eden seçmenlerden XYZ kuşağında olan seçmenlerin siyasal katılım oranı gözden geçirilmiş ve katılım oranının nedenleri arasında yer alan demografik özellikler üzerinden seçim bölgeleri arasında karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul ili seçim bölgelerinde yaşayan herhangi bir hukuki kısıtlaması olmayan siyasal katılım erkine sahip tüm bireyler oluştururken, bu evren içerisinden XYZ kuşağında olan seçmenler ise araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada anket aracılığı ile veriler toplanarak analiz edilmiş ve sonuçlar paylaşılmıştır. Buna göre XYZ kuşakları arasında, siyasal katılım düzeyi, siyasal katılım türü, siyasal katılımda etkili faktörlere ve oy verilen lidere bağlılık derecesine göre anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca siyasal katılım düzeyinin yaş, eğitim durumu, medeni durum ve gelir düzeyi gibi demografik özelliklere göre de farklılaştığı bulunmuştur.

Influencing and directing the mechanisms operating in the political process in countries with a democratic form of government is effective with the participation of individuals in the political participation process. The first condition for the modernization of democratic countries is political participation and it plays an important role in decision making. Political participation is a different process that includes the individual’s attitude towards social existence and the factors that determine this attitude. These factors affecting political participation differ from person to person and from society to society. In this study, the political participation rate of voters in the XYZ generation residing in the electoral districts of Istanbul was reviewed and a comparative analysis was made between the electoral districts based on the demographic characteristics that are among the reasons for the participation rate. While the population of the research consists of all individuals with political participation power who do not have any legal restrictions living in Istanbul electoral districts, voters in the XYZ generations from this population constitute the sample of the research. In the study, data were collected and analyzed through a survey and the results were shared. Consequently, significant differences were found between XYZ generations according to the level of political participation, the type of political participation, the factors affecting political participation and the degree of commitment to the voted leader. In addition, it was found that the level of political participation differs according to demographic characteristics such as age, education level, marital status and income level.
