Gözetim kapitalizmi bağlamında nesnelerin interneti : gizlilik çözümleri üzerine bir inceleme

Abstract

Gözetim kapitalizmi, insan deneyimlerini bir hammadde olarak kullanan ve bu deneyimlerden davranışsal veri üreterek sermaye birikimi sağlayan bir modeldir. Nesnelerin İnterneti teknolojisi ise insan ile nesne arasındaki ilişkileri bağlantılı hâle getiren bir bütünlüğü temsil etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, gözetim kapitalizmi yaklaşımı nesnelerin interneti ekosistemi üzerinden incelenmiştir. Eleştirel ekonomi politik çerçevede yapılan bu araştırma, nesnelerin interneti teknolojilerinin kapitalist sermaye birikim modelinin her yere yayılmasını kolaylaştırdığı üzerine temellenmektedir. Nesnelerin İnterneti teknolojileri ve artan cihaz kullanımı gözetimi daha da derinleştirmektedir. Bu durum beraberinde veri mahremiyeti sorununu da getirmektedir. Nitekim gözetim operasyonları şirketler tarafından her yere yayılmakta ve kişilerin en mahrem sayılabilecek ortamlarına nüfuz etmektedir. Dolayısıyla yaşanan mahremiyet ihlallerine karşı geliştirilen mevcut gizlilik çözümlerini ve geliştirilebilecek gizlilik çözümlerini incelemek bir gereklilik olarak görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada gizlilik çözümlerinin sorgulanması ve yöntemlerin uygulanmasındaki sınırlılıkların ekonomi politik bağlamda değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yönteminin uzman görüşleri veri toplama tekniğine dayanmaktadır. Uzman görüşlerinden elde edilen bulgular gizliliğin sağlanması için teknik, yasal ve kullanıcı farkındalığının arttırılmasına yönelik çözümler olmuştur.

Surveillance capitalism is a model that uses human experiences as raw material and generates behavioral data from these experiences to enable capital accumulation. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology, on the other hand, represents a networked structure that connects relationships between humans and objects. In this study, the approach of surveillance capitalism is examined through the lens of the Internet of Things ecosystem. Conducted within a critical political economy framework, this research is based on the premise that IoT technologies facilitate the pervasive spread of the capitalist model of capital accumulation. IoT technologies and the increasing use of connected devices further deepen surveillance. This, in turn, brings about significant data privacy issues. Indeed, surveillance operations are expanding ubiquitously through corporate actors, penetrating even the most intimate spaces of individuals. Therefore, it has become necessary to examine both existing and potential privacy solutions in response to the ongoing violations of privacy. This study aims to critically assess privacy solutions and evaluate the limitations of their implementation from a political economy perspective. The research is based on a qualitative method using expert interviews as the data collection technique. Findings obtained from expert opinions point to solutions for ensuring privacy, including technical measures, legal frameworks, and the enhancement of user awareness.
