Abstract
Toplumsal bir bellek mekânı olarak anılabilecek İstanbul antikacılar çarşıları, antika eşyalar ile varlığını sürdüren mekânlardır. Mekân, bireyin hatırlama ediminde yardımcı bir araç olduğundandır ki bireyler maddi bir mekâna veya eşyaya yönelmektedir. İstanbul antikacılar çarşıları ve çarşıların içinde bulunan antikalar belleği yoklar ve hatırlamaya yardımcı olur. Bu yönüyle eşya olarak antikalar bireyin hatırlama sürecine katkı sağlamaktadır. Dolayısıyla bireyin bir antika eşyaya olan ilgisi belleğine ve kendi geçmişine olan ilgisine yöneliktir. İstanbul gerek metropol gerekse tarihsel ve köklü bir mirasa sahip bir şehir olması nedeniyle antikacılık kültürünün oluşmasına büyük bir katkı sunmaktadır. Şehir eşya ile unutmak ve eşya ile hatırlamanın meydana geldiği bir merkezdir. İstanbul antikacılar çarşılarının tarihsel, kültürel süreçlerini kenti mekân ve bellek bağlamında araştırmanın en iyi yollarından biri de bu çarşılara ilgi duyan bireylerin düşünce ve hisleri olmaktadır. Bu ilgi ve alaka ile beraber gelişen bellek bireyin kendi bireysel geçmişine ve bu bağlamda çeşitli bilgilerin açığa çıkmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Üsküdar, Horhor, Mecidiyeköy, Balat çarşıları örneğinde antikacılar çarşıları kentin mekân ve bellek ilişkisini bireylerin ilgileri bağlamında incelemiş ve anlamaya çalışmıştır. Bu bağlamda tezde eşya, mekân, bellek ve kente dair teorik çerçevelerden yararlanılmış, derinlemesine mülakat ve katılımcı gözlem teknikleri ile nitel bir yöntem kullanılmıştır. Antika çarşılarına gelen bireylerle yapılan görüşmelerle antika, bellek ve mekân ilişkisi anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Istanbul Antique Dealers' Bazaars, which can be referred to as a place of social memory, are places that continue to exist with antique items. Istanbul Antique Dealers' Bazaars and the antiques in which the bazaars are located contain a process that probes the memory and helps to remember. In this respect, antiques as goods contribute to the remembering process of the individual. Therefore, an individual's interest in an antique is directed towards his memory and his own past. For this reason, the city of Istanbul has a very valuable position to understand the Antiques Bazaar. As Istanbul is a metropolitan city and has a historical and deep-rooted heritage, it makes a great contribution to the formation of an antique culture. Since the city has both a metropolis and a historical past, it is a center where things and forgetting and remembering with things occur. One of the best places to research the historical and cultural processes of Istanbul Antiques Bazaars in the context of space and memory is the feelings of individuals who are interested in these bazaars. The memory that develops with this interest and relevance causes the individual's own personal history and, in this context, various information to be revealed. The aim of this study will focus on examining and understanding the city from the Antique Dealers' Bazaars, examples of which are given, in the context of individuals' interests in terms of space and memory. In this context, memory and urban studies were used in the thesis, indepth interview and participant observation techniques were used within the framework of the discipline of anthropology. Antique and memory were tried to be understood through interviews with individuals who are interested in antiques.
