Porno endüstrisine alternatif bir dijital mecra olarak onlyfans platformunun sosyal bilimsel incelemesi

Abstract

Günümüzde teknolojilerinin gelişmesiyle geleneksel üretim araçlarının yerini dijital araçlar almıştır. Değişen araçlar hem içeriğin kendisini hem de üretim koşullarını dönüştürmüştür. Değişen alanlardan bir tanesi ise porno endüstrisidir. OnlyFans gibi sonradan üretilen alternatif mecralar geleneksel porno sektörü kodlarını değişime uğratmıştır. OnlyFans başlangıçta bir cinsel içerik üretim platformu olmasa da zamanla yarattığı koşullar sayesinde çoğunlukla cinsel içeriği barındıran bir platforma evirilmiştir. Bir ekibin çalıştığı stüdyo kullanımı gibi geleneksel yöntemlerin yarattığı tek taraflı üretim yapısının aksine abonelerle iletişim kurarak etkileşimli bir iletişim kanalının kurulmuş olması özellikle porno endüstrisinin dönüşümü bakımından dikkat çekicidir. Aboneye özel porno içeriğin etkileşimli üretildiği bu mecrada geleneksel porno sektörünün aksine bir ekibin çalıştığı stüdyo kullanımı bulunmamaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu mecra yapılanmasında, içerik üretici herhangi bir stüdyoya bağlı olmaması sebebiyle üreteceği içeriği kendi yönlendirebilir. İçerik üreticisinin hangi içeriği, hangi koşullarda nasıl bir bakış açısıyla üreteceği abonelere ve kendisine bağlı olabilir. Böylece porno sektörünün geleneksel çalışma şartlarının aksine esnek çalışma saatleri ve koşulları oluşur. Bir diğer yandan, pornonun tarihsel süreci ve toplumsal cinsiyet, sansür, beden sosyolojisi kavramları arasında girift bağlar bulunmaktadır. Konu bu kavramlar ekseninde tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışma öncelikli olarak bir bilişim tezi olması dolayısıyla dijitalleşme ekseninde değişen porno sektörünü ele alarak çalışma koşullarının nasıl değiştiğini ve bu değişimin nasıl algılandığı incelemektedir. Bu bakımdan araştırma toplumun teknolojiyi değiştirmesi ve aynı zamanda teknolojinin toplumu nasıl değiştirdiği sorularına cevaplar arama ilkesiyle inşa edilmiştir. Araştırmanın problematiği alternatif porno platformlarından biri olan OnlyFans’ın, dijital teknolojilerin kullanılmasının getirdiği çalışma şartları ve ekonomik açılardan, kadın içerik üreticileri için geleneksel porno sektöründen daha farklı bir ortam oluşturmasıyla birlikte toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliğini derinleştiren hangi sorunları (damgalama ve fuhuşun kriminalize edilmesi gibi) yarattığını tartışmaktır. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada OnlyFans platformunun kapatılmasına ilişkin X’ten atılan tweetlerin içeriği NVivo ve MaxQDA nitel analiz yazılımları ile değerlendirilmiştir. Böylece toplumdaki OnlyFans platformuna ilişkin algı, toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri, sansür, gig ekonomi ve beden sosyolojisi kavramları bağlamında araştırılmıştır. Bu platformdaki içerik üreticilerinin aşağılandığı ve damgalandığı görülmüştür. Bu içerik üreticilerinin ekonomik olarak iyi seviyede olduğu ve vergi vermediği algısı yaygındır. Tweet içeriklerinde genellikle olumsuz yorumların ve platformun yasaklanmasına yönelik içeriklerin olduğu söylenebilir.

In today's world, digital tools have replaced traditional production tools due to technological advancements. The changing tools have transformed both the content itself and the production conditions. One of the areas that has undergone transformation is the porn industry. Alternative platforms such as OnlyFans have altered the traditional codes of the porn sector. Although OnlyFans was not initially a platform for producing sexual content, it has evolved into a platform that predominantly hosts sexual content due to the conditions it created. Unlike the traditional one-sided production structure involving studio use by a team, the establishment of an interactive communication channel by engaging with subscribers is particularly noteworthy in terms of the transformation of the porn industry. In this platform where interactive production of porn content is created specifically for subscribers, there is no studio usage by a team, unlike in the traditional porn sector. Therefore, since content creators are not tied to any studio in this platform structure, they can direct the content they produce independently. The nature of the content, the conditions under which it is produced, and the perspective with which it is created can depend on both the subscribers and the creators themselves. Thus, flexible working hours and conditions are formed, unlike the traditional working conditions of the porn industry. On the other hand, there are intricate connections between the historical process of porn and concepts such as gender, censorship, and body sociology. The topic has been discussed within the framework of these concepts. This study primarily examines how the porn industry has changed in the context of digitalization and how this change is perceived, focusing on the changing working conditions due to digitalization since it is a thesis in informatics. In this regard, the research is built on the principle of seeking answers to the questions of how society changes technology and how technology changes society simultaneously. The problematic of the research is to discuss what issues (such as stigmatization and the criminalization of prostitution) arise from the different environment that OnlyFans, one of the alternative porn platforms, creates for female content creators in terms of working conditions and economic aspects brought about by the use of digital technologies, and how these issues deepen gender inequality. The study was conducted using the descriptive analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. The content of tweets about the closure of the OnlyFans platform was evaluated using NVivo and MaxQDA qualitative analysis software. Thus, the perception of the OnlyFans platform in society was investigated in the context of gender roles, censorship, gig economy, and body sociology. It was observed that content creators on this platform are demeaned and stigmatized. There is a widespread perception that these content creators are economically well-off and do not pay taxes. It can be said that tweet contents generally contain negative comments and content aimed at banning the platform.
