Publication: Ortaöğretim 10. sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel sorgulama anlayışlarının incelenmesi
Abstract
Bilim ve teknolojideki hızlı gelişmeler toplumları çağın gereksinimlerini yakalayabilen, bilgiyi üreten, aktaran, kullanan ve yeri geldiğinde yeniden üretebilen bireyler yetiştirmeye zorlamaktadır. Bu amaçlara ulaşmak için öğrencilerin öğrenme sürecine aktif olarak katıldığı, sebep-sonuç ilişkisini irdelediği, öğrendiği bilgileri ve anlayışları yeni durumlara uygulayarak problemlere çözüm yolları üretebildiği yaklaşımlara ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Gelişen teknoloji ile beraber bilimsel okuryazar bireyler yetiştirmek bütün eğitimciler için ortak bir hedef haline gelmiştir. Bu hedefin önemli bileşenlerinden biri uzun süredir fen eğitiminin odak noktasını oluşturan “bilimsel sorgulama” kavramıdır. Dünya’da ve Türkiye’de, fen eğitimi kazanımları ve standartları arasına “bilimsel sorgulama” kavramının girmesiyle öğrencilerin bilimsel sorgulamayı anlama ve uygulama hedefine ulaşıp ulaşmadığını belirlemek önemli hale gelmiştir. Bu noktadan hareketle bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaöğretim 10. Sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel sorgulama anlayışlarının araştırılmasıdır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öğrencilerin bilimsel sorgulama anlayışlarını incelemek için betimleyici tarama yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, Bilimsel Sorgulamaya İlişkin Görüşler Anketi’nin (VASI) Türkçe ’ye uyarlanmış hali ile toplanmıştır. Çalışma, 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılı güz döneminde Milli Eğitime Bakanlığı’na bağlı ortaöğretim kurumlarının 10. Sınıf öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Farklı lise türlerinde okuyan toplam 1035 öğrenciden veri toplanmıştır. Veriler, betimsel istatiksel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin ölçekte vermiş oldukları cevaplar bilimsel sorgulama boyutları açısından naif, eklektik ya da bilinçli olarak ayrı ayrı kategorize edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar betimsel istatistiksel analiz yöntemi olan yüzdelik frekans ile tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda ortaokul temel seviyesini henüz bitirmemiş öğrencilerin bilimsel sorgulama anlayışlarının naif düzeyde olduğu saptanmıştır. Okul türleri arasında fen lisesi diğer okullara nazaran daha iyi durumdayken, mesleki ve teknik anadolu lisesi ise son sırada yer almıştır. Cinsiyet faktörü açısından, kız öğrencilerin özellikle sorgulama becerisi yönünden erkek öğrencilere göre daha başarılı olduğu belirlenmiştir.
Rapid developments in science and technology force societies to grow individuals who can capture the needs of the age, produce, transmit, use and reproduce information when necessary. In order to achieve these goals, there was a need for approaches in which students actively participate in the learning process, examine the cause-effect relationship, and apply solutions to problems by applying the knowledge and understanding they have learned to new situations. Together with developing technology, educating scientific literate individuals has become a common goal for all educators. One of the important components of this objective is the concept of scientific inquiry which has been the focus of science education for a long time. Turkey and in the world, science education standards between gains and scientific inquiry to understand the students with scientific inquiry into the concept and practice has become important to determine whether it has reached its destination. From this point of view, the aim of this study is to investigate the 10th grade students' understanding of scientific inquiry. For this purpose, descriptive survey method is used to examine students' understanding of scientific inquiry. The data of the study is collected in Turkish version of the Views about Scientific Inquiry Questionnaire (VASI). The study carried out with 10th grade students of secondary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the fall semester of 2019-2020 academic year. Reached 1035 datas from each of the different high school types. The obtained data analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. The answers given by the students on the scale are categorized separately in terms of scientific inquiry dimensions naively, eclectically or intermediate. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the scientific inquiry understanding of the students who had not completed the primary level of secondary school was at a naive level. Among the school types, science high school is in a better condition than other schools, while vocational and technical anatolian high school is in the last place. In terms of gender factor, it has been determined that female students are more successful than male students especially in terms of questioning skills.
