Modern sosyologların toplum ve din hakkındaki görüşleri bağlamında Richard Sennett örneği

Abstract

Richard sennett’in tüm çalışmalarında sosyolojinin konularından olan toplumsal değişim, sosyalleşme, kamusal alan, aile, kentleşme, din ve toplum konularını modernleşme sekülerleşme kapitalizm ekseninde değerlendirdiği görülmektedir. üretim ilişkilerinin toplumsal ilişkileri değiştirdiği tezine dayanan bu referans çerçevesinde ampirik araştırmalar yapmış, çeşitli aileleri derinlemesine mülakat yöntemiyle iş ve aile hayatı, sosyalleşme, toplumsal ilişkiler bağlamında incelemiştir. aynı ailenin yirmi yıl sonra çocuklarını yine aynı şekilde incelemiş ve değişen noktalar üzerinde değerlendirmelerde bulunmuştur. ayrıca tarihsel süreç üzerinde okumalar gerçekleştirerek yeni kapitalist kültür hakkında çeşitli çıkarımlarda bulunmuştur. geleneksel toplumlardan modern toplumlara değişen sosyal yapıyı analiz etmiş ve toplumsal ilişkilerin kriz noktalarını yorumlamıştır. bu çalışma ile yapmak istediğimiz; richard sennett’in din ve toplum hakkındaki görüşleri üzerine bir çalışma bulunmamasından dolayı richard sennett’in din ve toplum hakkındaki görüşlerini tespit etmektir. ikinci hedefimiz ise richard sennett’in alana olabilecek muhtemel katkılarına kavramlara getirdiği yaklaşımlar üzerinden işarette bulunmaktır. çalışmamız üç temel bölümden oluşacaktır. 1.richard sennett’in hayatı, eserleri ve sosyoloji alanındaki temel görüşleri 2.richard sennett’in din hakkındaki temel görüşleri 3.richard sennett’in özgün yönlerinin ve din sosyolojisi alanına katkılarının değerlendirilmesi. çalışmamızın birinci bölümünün ilk kısmında richard sennett’in hayatına yer verilecektir. birinci bölümün ikinci kısmında ise richard sennett’in sosyoloji anlayışı ve yaklaşımındaki hâkim kavramlar çalışmaları ve eserleri üzerinden ele alınacaktır. bu kavramlar toplumsal değişim, değişime etki eden toplumsal kurumlar (iş, aile, din vb.), sosyalleşme, bireyselleşme, modernizm, kapitalizm, kentleşme, endüstri toplumu kavramlarıdır. bu kavramlar doğrultusunda richard sennett’in sosyolojik düşüncesinde ele alınacak başlıklar şunlardır: yabancılaşma, yalıtım, sessizlik kültürü, saygı, rutin, esneklik, roller, kayıtsızlık, yetenek, zekâ ve özel hayatın kutsanması, meta fetişizmi, otorite kavramının tarihsel dönüşümü, iş etiği, zanaatkârın dönüşümü, sürüklenme, yeni kapitalist kültür, iş birliği, anlamsızlık, duyarsızlaşma, kamusal alan, kent kültürü. ikinci bölümde richard sennett’in kitaplarından, konuşmalarından, hakkında yazılanlardan, resmi internet hesaplarında yaptığı paylaşımlardan din hakkındaki görüşlerine sekülerleşme paradigmalarından hangisine işarette bulunduğuna, toplumsal yapıya dinin etkisi konusundaki görüşlerine yer verilecektir. son bölümde ise richard sennett’in modern sosyolojiye katkısı, modern din sosyolojisine katkısı, kavramlara getirmiş olduğu özgün açılımlar ve metoduna yönelik eleştiriler ele alınacaktır.the example of rıchard sennett ın the context of modern socıologısts' opınıons on socıety and relıgıon ıt is seen in all his works that richard sennett evaluates the issues of social change, socialization, public space, family, urbanization, religion and society, which are among the subjects of sociology, on the axis of modernization, secularization and capitalism. he conducted empirical research within the framework of the thesis that production relations change social relations, examined various families thoroughly in the context of work and family life, socialization and social relations using interview method. twenty years later, he examined the children of the same family in the same way and made evaluations on the changing subjects. he also derived various conclusions about the new capitalist culture by doing readings on the historical process. he analyzed the changing social structure through the dualism of traditional society and modern society and made references to the crisis points of social relations. stating that he does not want to act and make a categorization on a dualism, richard sennett emphasizes that the modern capitalist social structure and the traditional social structure are separated in terms of differences. with this study, we want to determine richard sennett's views on religion and society. ıt is pointing out possible contributions to the field through his approaches to concepts. our study will consist of three basic chapters. 1.richard sennett's life, works and main views on sociology 2.richard sennett's main views on religion 3.evaluation of richard sennett’s unique aspects and his contributions to the field of sociology of religion first chapter of this study will cover richard sennet’s life. the second part of the first chapter will examine his approach of sociology based on dominant concepts. these are social change, social institutions that affect change (work, family, religion etc.) socializing, individualization, modernism, capitalism, urbanization, industrial society. ın line with these concepts, the topics to be discussed within richard sennett's sociological thought are as follows: alienation, isolation, culture of silence, respect, routine, flexibility, roles, carelessness, talent, intelligence and sanctification of private life, commodity fetishism, historical transformation of the concept of authority, work ethics, transformation of the craftsman, drift. second chapter will include his views on religion from his books, speeches, official internet accounts and things written about him. last chapter will examine his contributions to modern sociology, modern sociology of religion and his unique approaches to concepts. another issue we will focus on in the last chapter of the study is his solution suggestions to crisis points of the modern society.
