Türkiye'de engellilik algısına sosyolojik bir bakış

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, iş yaşamında engellilere yönelik olumsuz tutum ve algıları şekillendiren sosyo-demografik ve mesleki değişkenlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda kamu ve özel sektörde çalışanların, iş yaşamındaki engellilere yönelik tutum ve düşünceleri, farklı sosyo-demografik değişkenlerle karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında; İstanbul ilinde kamu ve özel sektörde çalışan 308 kişiye, kişisel ve mesleki bilgileri içeren bilgi formu, katılımcıların engelli çalışanların meslekte ne kadar yeterli oldukları algısına dair oluşturulan Engelli Çalışana Yönelik Mesleki Yeterlilik Algısı Ölçeği ve Engelli Çalışana Karşı Tutum Ölçeği’ni içeren anket formu uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS 24.0 istatistik analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda; iş yaşamında engellilere yönelik tutumların ve mesleki yeterlilik algısının; cinsiyete göre, iş yerindeki personel sayısına göre ve bir engelli ile aynı iş yerinde çalışıp çalışmama durumuna göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda; özellikle işletme sahiplerinin engelli çalışanlarına yönelik mesleki yeterlilik algıları ve tutumlarının düşük seviyede olduğu gözlenmiş, engellilere yönelik mesleki yeterlilik algısı ve tutum arasında pozitif yönde ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca eğitim seviyesinin yükselmesinin her alanda olduğu gibi toplum içerisindeki engellilerin anlaşılması ve iş hayatına entegre edilmesi açısından da önem arz ettiği gözlemlenmiştir. Bu alanda yapılacak müteakip çalışmaların kamu ve özel sektörün ayrı ayrı ele alınarak farklı demografik ve mesleki özelliklere sahip daha kapsamlı bir örneklem kitlesini kapsayacak şekilde yapılmasının uygun olacağı değerlendirilmiştir.

In this study, it is aimed to examine socio-demographic and professional variables which negative attitudes towards people with disabilities. In this respect, the attitudes and thoughts of the employees in public and private sectors towards the disabled people in business life were evaluated in comparison with different socio-demographic variables. In the scope of the research; 308 people working in the public and private sectors in Istanbul applied a personal information form including personal and professional information, the scale of “Professional Competence Perception about Disabled Employee” and “Attitude Scale on Disabled Employee”. The data were analyzed by SPSS 24.0 statistical program. As a result of the analysis; the attitudes towards disabled people and the perception of professional competence in work life; according to gender, according to the number of personnel at the workplace and working with a disability in the same work place has been observed to be significantly different according to the situation. According to the findings obtained; it was observed that business owners' perceptions and attitudes towards disabled employees were low. It was determined that there is a positive relationship between the perception of professional competence towards disabled people and attitude. In addition, it has been observed that increasing the level of education is important in terms of understanding the disabled people in the society and integrating them into business life as in every field. It was evaluated that the subsequent studies in this area would be appropriate to cover the public and private sectors separately and to include a more comprehensive sample population with different demographic and professional characteristics.
