Abstract
KREDİ KARTI TALEBİNİ ETKİLEYEN SOSYO-EKONOMİK FAKTÖRLER: HARCAMALARA ETKİSİNİN UYGULAMALI ANALİZİ Bu çalışmada, bankacılık sektörünün en aktif ve stratejik finansal enstrümanlarından biri olan kredi kartları incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, kredi kartlarının dünyadaki ve Türkiye’deki tarihsel gelişimi ile birlikte, tüketicilerin kredi kartını talep etmede etkili olan sosyo-ekonomik faktörlerin belirlenmesi ve uygulamalı olarak analiz edilmesidir. İstanbul ilinde farklı sosyo-ekonomik yapıya sahip ilçelerde yaşayan bireylerin dahil edildiği bu çalışmada, aynı zamanda kredi kartı kullanımının harcamalara olan etkisinin analizi de amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla, bireylerle yapılan anketlerden elde edilen veriler, istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda gelir seviyesi ile kredi kartı kullanımı arasında pozitif yönlü bir ilişki olduğu görülmüştür. Gelir seviyesi yükseldikçe kredi kartı kullanım alanları genişlemekte ve bireylerin kredi kartı kullanımı da artmaktadır. Bireylerin eğitim düzeyleri ve ait oldukları meslek grubu ile kredi kartı talebi arasında da pozitif yönlü bir ilişki olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bireylerin almış oldukları eğitim, onları daha bilinçli tüketici haline getirmekte, kredi kartı talebi de buna bağlı olarak artmaktadır. THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS EFFECTING CREDIT CARD DEMAND: APPLIED ANALYSIS OF ITS EFFECTS ON EXPENSES Credit cards, as one of the most active and the most strategic instrument of the banking sector, have been examined during this study. Beside examining the historical progress of credit cards worldwide and across Turkey, the aim of this study is to make an applied analysis of socio-economic factors that effect individuals’ demand of credit cards. In this study, where individuals living in Istanbul’s districts of different socio-economic structures were involved, it was also aimed to analyze the effect of credit card demand over expenses. Towards this purpose, a survey was realized with individuals and the gained datas were analyzed by statistical methods. As a result, it has been found out that there is positive relationship between income level and credit card usage. As the income level increases, the credit card usage areas expands and thus the credit card usage increases. It has been also found out that there is a positive relationship between credit card demand and the educational levels of individuals as well as the profession group they belong to. As individuals’ education level increases, it turns them into more conscious consumers, resulting as an increase in the credit card demand.
