Abstract

Kültürel mirasın sürdürülebilirliği açısından hayat ağacı motifi temalı yeni tasarım örnekleri Bu çalışma, Hayat Ağacı motifini kültürel mirasın sürdürülebilirliği bağlamında ele almakta; motifin tarihi, sembolik, ekolojik ve toplumsal boyutlarını bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla analiz etmektedir. Geleneksel motiflerin yalnızca biçimsel bir bezeme unsuru olmadığını, aynı zamanda kültürel kimlik, aidiyet duygusu ve doğa bilincini taşıyan simgeler olduğu; anlamlarının ise kökleriyle ilişkilendirilerek ve de bağlılaştırılarak korunması gerektiği savunulmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında, birinci grupta kolaj teknikleriyle, beş adet Hayat Ağacı temalı dijital illüstrasyon posterler tasarlanmış; ikinci grupta ise gelenekselden çıkışlı motiflerin, yorumlanmasıyla kişisel kompozisyonlarinşaedilmiştir. Her iki grup, motifin, post modern çağda görsel kültürdeki yeniden üretim biçimleri bağlamındakarşılaştırmalıolarak analiz edilmiştir. Nitel araştırma, ikonografik çözümleme ve gösterge-bilim analiz yöntemleriyle yürütülen incelemeler neticesinde; dijital illüstrasyon posterlerdeki kompozisyonlarda Hayat Ağacı’nın anlam katmanlarının erozyona uğradığı, kültürel köküyle olan bağın koptuğu görülmüştür. Gelenekselden çıkışlı geometrik kompozisyonlarda ise, motiflerin biçimleri değişse dahi özlerinin ve anlamlarının muhafaza edildiği gözlemlenmiştir. Bu neticeler doğrultusunda çalışma; Hayat Ağacı motifinin, kültürel hafızanın sürdürülebilirliği açısından hangi yöntemlerle aktarılması gerektiğine dair geçerli bir yaklaşım ortaya koymaktadır. Disiplinler arası bir yaklaşıma sahip olan bu çalışma, kültürel mirasın gelecekteki akademik ve sanatsal üretimlere kaynaklık edecek bir perspektif sunmayı hedeflemektedir.

New design interpretations of the tree of life motif in the contex of cultural heritage sustainability This study investigates the Tree of Life motif within the broader framework of cultural heritage sustainability, adopting a holistic lens to explore its historical, symbolic, ecological, and sociocultural dimensions. It asserts that traditional motifs function not solely as decorative elements but as potent carriers of cultural identity, a sense of belonging, and ecological consciousness. Accordingly, the research emphasizes the necessity of preserving these motifs by maintaining their connection to their roots and original contexts. The study consists of two creative design phases: In the first group, five digital illustration posters were developed using collage techniques, centered around the Tree of Life motif. In the second group, personal compositions were constructed by reinterpreting traditional motifs with stylized, contemporary approaches. These two groups were subjected to a comparative analysis in the context of visual culture reproduction within the postmodern era. Employing qualitative research methods, including iconographic and semiotic analysis, the study found that the Tree of Life’s semantic layers were often eroded in the digital posters, indicating a disconnection from the motif’s cultural origins. In contrast, the stylized compositions grounded in traditional forms, although visually transformed, were observed to retain the motif’s core symbolic meanings and conceptual integrity.Based on these findings, the research proposes a valid methodological approach for transmitting the Tree of Life motif in ways that support the sustainability of cultural memory. By integrating interdisciplinary perspectives-spanning design, art history, semiotics, and ecology-the thesis presents a framework that may inform future academic and artistic productions focused on cultural heritage transmission in contemporary contexts.
