TÜBİTAK araştırma projesi yarışmalarına sosyal bilimler alanında katılan öğrenci ve öğretmen deneyimleri: fenomenolojik bir çözümleme

Abstract

Günümüzün teknolojik ve bilimsel gelişmeleri eğitim alanında büyük değişiklikleri meydana getirmiştir. Geleneksel eğitim anlayışında olduğu gibi öğrencilerin bilgiyi zihinlerinde tutabilmeleri yerine ulaşılabilecek birçok bilgi arasından kullanabilecekleri bilgiyi ayırt etmeleri ve yorumlamaları önem kazanmıştır. Günümüzün modern eğitim anlayışına uygun yaklaşımlarından biri de Proje Tabanlı Öğrenmedir. Bu yaklaşımla öğrenciler dinleyen ve ezberleyen konumundan fikir geliştiren ve üreten konumuna geçmektedirler. Ülkemizde ve dünyada öğrencilerin hazırladıkları projelerle katılabildikleri önemli yarışmalar bulunmaktadır. Ülkemizde bu alandaki yarışmalardan en köklü geçmişe sahip olan ve en fazla katılımcıyla yapılan yarışma, TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarıdır. Araştırmanın amacı, TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında Sosyal Bilimler alanında final başarısı elde eden öğrencilerin deneyimlerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda aşağıdaki sorulara yanıt aranmıştır: 1. TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında final başarısı elde eden öğrencilerin deneyimleri nasıldır? 2. TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında final başarısı elde eden öğrencilerin velileri, öğrencilerin süreçte elde ettikleri deneyimleri nasıl ifade etmektedirler? 3. TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında final başarısı elde eden öğrencilerin projelerine danışmanlık yapan öğretmenler hem kendilerinin hem de öğrencilerin deneyimlerini nasıl ifade etmektedirler? 4. TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında final başarısı elde eden öğrencileri süreçte gözlemleyen psikolojik danışmanlar öğrencilerin deneyimlerini nasıl ifade etmektedirler? 5. TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında jüri olarak görev alan akademisyenler öğrencilerin deneyimlerini nasıl ifade etmektedirler? Araştırma nitel bir araştırma olup fenomenolojik desene göre modellenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2022 yılları arasında belirtilen yarışmada final başarısı kazanan 8 öğrenci ve bu öğrencilerin velilerinden 9’u, yarışmada farklı yıllarda danışmanlık yapmış 10 öğretmen, öğrencileri süreçte gözlemleyen iki psikolojik danışman ve yarışmada jüri olarak görev alan iki akademisyen oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubundan görüşme yoluyla toplanan veriler, fenomenolojik analiz yapılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmalarında final başarısı kazanan öğrencilerin süreçten genel olarak olumlu yönde etkilendiği ve elde ettikleri deneyimlerin gündelik hayatlarına olumlu yönde yansıdığına ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlarla Proje Tabanlı Öğrenme ve TÜBİTAK Araştırma Projesi Yarışmaları ile ilgili alan yazındaki çalışmaların sonuçları büyük oranda benzerlik göstermektedir.

Today's technological and scientific developments have created great changes in the field of education. As in traditional education, it has become important for students to distinguish and interpret the information they can use among the many available information instead of keeping the information in their minds. One of the approaches suitable for today's modern education understanding is Project Based Learning. With this approach, students move from listening and memorizing to developing and producing ideas. There are important competitions in our country and in the world where students can participate with the projects they prepare. TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions are the competitions that have the most rooted history among the competitions in this field in our country and are held with the highest number of participants. The aim of the research is to reveal the experiences of the students who achieved final success in the field of Social Sciences in TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions. For this purpose, answers were sought to the following questions: 1. What is the experience of the students who achieved final success in TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions? 2. How do the parents of the students who achieved final success in TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions express the experiences that the students gained in the process? 3. How do the teachers who advise the projects of the students who achieved final success in the TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions express their experiences and the experiences of the students? 4. How do the psychological counselors, who observe the students who achieved final success in the TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions, express the experiences of the students? 5. How do the academicians who serve as the jury in TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions express the experiences of the students? The research is a qualitative research and modeled according to the phenomenological pattern. The study group of the research consists of 8 students who won the final success in the competition between the years 2016-2022, 9 of these students' parents, 10 teachers who served as consultants in the competition in different years, two psychological counselors who observed the students in the process, and two academicians who served as the jury in the competition. The data collected from the study group through interviews were evaluated by phenomenological analysis. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the students who won the final success in the TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions were generally positively affected by the process and their experiences were reflected positively on their daily lives. The results obtained from the research and the results of the studies in the literature on Project Based Learning and TÜBİTAK Research Project Competitions show a great deal of similarity.
