Bilim tarihinin biyoloji dersine entegrasyonunun öğrencilerin bilimin doğası anlayışları ve biyoloji dersine karşı tutumlarına etkisi

Abstract

Çağdaş fen bilimleri eğitiminin temel hedeflerinden biri bilimsel okuryazar bireyler yetiştirmektir. Bu hedefe ulaşmak için araştırmacılar farklı içeriklerle zenginleştirilmiş dersler oluşturup farklı öğretim yöntemleri uygulayarak öğrencilerin fen eğitiminde bilimsel okuryazarlık düzeylerinin ne derece geliştiğini araştırmaktadırlar. Bu araştırmada da bilim tarihinin biyoloji dersine entegrasyonunun öğrencilerin bilimin doğası anlayışları ve biyoloji dersine karşı tutumları araştırılmıştır.Araştırma modeli yarı deneysel desenli ön test ve son test kontrol gruplu modeldir. Çalışmanın örneklemini 2013-2014 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında İstanbul ilinde bulunan bir devlet lisesinde okuyan 10.sınıf öğrencilerinden birbirine eşdeğer iki sınıf deney ve iki sınıf ise kontrol gruplarını oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma 10.sınıf “Üreme” ünitesi üzerinden işlenerek yapılmıştır. Kontrol grubu ile işlenen dersler Biyoloji Öğretim Programında yer alan esaslara göre işlenmiştir. Deney grubu ile işlenen derslerde ise Biyoloji Öğretim Programında yer alan öğretim yöntemlerinin yanında bilim tarihi biyoloji dersine entegre edilerek dersler işlenmiştir.Araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak “Argümantasyon Olarak Bilimin Doğası Anketi” ve “Biyoloji Dersi Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada deney ve kontrol grubu verileri bağımlı ve bağımsız değişkenler için nicel analiz yöntemlerinden t testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda bilim tarihi materyalleri ile işlenen dersler sonucunda öğrencilerim bilimin doğası anlayışları ve biyoloji dersine karşı tutumlarında anlamlı düzeyde fark bulunmuştur.

One of the main objectives of contemporary science education is to educate scientifically literate individuals. In order to achieve this goal, researchers investigate how students develop scientific literacy levels in science education by creating courses enriched with different contents and applying different teaching methods. In this research, understandings on nature of science and attitudes towards biology course were investigated.The research model is a pretest and posttest control group study with quasi-experimental design. The sample of the study consists of a randomly selected two experimental and two control groups with equal size of 10th grade students attending a state high school in Istanbul during the 2013-2014 academic year. The control group was taught classical teaching methods. The study has been conducted the “reproduction” chapter of tenth grade biology course. In addition to the classical teaching methods, the content of the materials of history of science were integrated into the biology course.In the research, “The Nature of Science as Argument” and “Biology Lesson Attitude Scale” were used as data collection tools.Experimental and control group data were analyzed with t test and ancova test, which are the quantitative analysis methods for dependent and independent variables. As a result of the research, significant differences were found in the attitudes of students towards understandings on nature of science and biology course.
