Portre fotoğraf sanatında beden dili

Abstract

Bu tez, bedenin bir sanat nesnesi olarak portre fotoğraf sanatında ele alınışı ve beden dili işaret ve hareketlerinin portre fotoğraf sanatında kompozisyona nasıl etki ettiğinin incelenmesini konu almaktadır. Bu bağlamda, portre ve portre fotoğraf sanatının tanımı, beden dilinin tanımı, jest ve mimik kavramları, semiyotik, işaret ve ikonografi kavramları detaylıca ele alınmış, fotoğraf sanatçısının üretime yönelik uygulamalarında bedenin verdiği mesajlar ve kompozisyona etkisi yapılan röportajlar aracılığı ile irdelenmiştir. Bireyin kişisel deneyimlerinden biri olan beden ve sözsüz ifadeler, bir temsil biçimi olarak röportaj yapılan fotoğraf sanatçılarının eserlerinden kendi seçtikleri portre fotoğrafları aracılığıyla, fotoğraf ikonografisi üzerinden ele alınarak okunmuş ve çözümlenmiştir. “Portre Fotoğraf Sanatında Beden Dili” isimli bu araştırmanın amacı; ‘portre fotoğrafının içinde beden’ kavramını bir sanat nesnesi ve iletişim aracı olarak tanımlamaktır. Bu araştırma kapsamında incelemenin özellikle beden üzerinden yapılmasının temel nedeni, bedenin insan varoluşunun bir parçası olması ve görünen, gösterilen, algılanan ifadelerin; kişiler, kültürler, dönemler ve yaşananlar çerçevesinde çok farklı ve katmanlı tezahürlerinin olmasıdır. Araştırmada fotoğraf ikonografisinin hangi etkilerin üzerinden oluştuğu, etki eden konular ve ifade ediliş biçimleri detaylı olarak ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışmada “Portre Fotoğraf” kavramı ve “Beden Dili” kavramı fotoğraf sanatçıları ve beden dili uzmanları nezdinde araştırılmıştır. Araştırmamızda, beden dili işaret ve hareketlerinin, fotoğraf sanatı ve kompozisyon oluşturmadaki etkisi ele alınmış, temel prensipler ortaya konulmuştur.

This thesis examines the portrayal of the body as an art object in the realm of portrait photography and investigates how body language, signs, and movements impact composition in portrait photography. Within this context, the definition of portraiture and portrait photography, as well as the definitions of body language, gestures, and facial expressions, are thoroughly explored. Concepts such as semiotics, signs, and iconography are also discussed in detail. The messages conveyed by the body and their influence on composition in the production practices of photographers are analyzed through interviews. The body and non-verbal expressions, which are personal experiences of individuals, are interpreted through selected portrait photographs of the interviewed photographers, examined and analyzed through the lens of photographic iconography. The aim of this research titled “Body Language in Portrait Photography” is to define the concept of “body within portrait photography” as an art object and a means of communication. The primary reason for the examination to be particularly centered around the body in this research is the fact that the body is an integral part of human existence, and the expressions that are visible, displayed, and perceived exhibit vastly different and layered manifestations across individuals, cultures, periods, and experiences. Within the research, the influences underlying photographic iconography, the relevant topics, and modes of expression are comprehensively explored. In this study, the concepts of “Portrait Photography” and “Body Language” have been investigated among both photographers and body language experts. Within my research, the influence of body language signs and movements on the art of photography and composition has been examined, and fundamental principles have been elucidated.
