Abstract
This thesis aims to evaluate the writings of the Akis magazine on the Cyprus Issue between 1954 and 1960. Document analysis was used as a qualitative method of analysis. Akis magazine archives for the relevant years were collected, classified and analyzed. Tables and comments related to the news were used at the analysis stage. The analysis of the most frequently used words in the news was carried out. As a result of the research, it is observed that Akis magazine has followed all the processes of evolution of the Cyprus Issue in the relevant years and, from time to time, criticized the government heavily and maintained an opposition role throughout this period. It is seen that Akis magazine has a clear intention to mobilize Turkish government to take an active role on the Cyprus Issue. At the same time, Akis magazine aims to raise public awareness by providing all relevant details about the importance of the Cyprus issue on its pages. Therefore, this study gave researchers and practitioners a detailed data set about how Cyprus is considered in Turkish politics and public opinion.
