Akademi ve komplo : akademisyenlerin komplo teorilerine eğilimleri

Abstract

1990’lı yıllardan itibaren komplo teorileri, akademik çevrelerde önemli bir araştırma alanı haline gelmiş, siyasetin diline yerleşmesiyle, medya ve sosyal medyanın da kullanımıyla popüler kültürde daha görünür olmuştur. Bu çalışma, komplo teorilerine disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımda bulunmakta ve Türkiye’de komplo teorilerinin siyasal ve ideolojik yapı içindeki yerini incelemektedir. Tezin araştırma bölümünde ise akademisyenlerin komplo teorilerinden ne derece etkilendiği gözlemlenmektedir. Türkiye’de komplo teorilerine yönelik akademik araştırmaların sınırlı olduğu ve özellikle saha çalışmalarının eksik olduğu görülmektedir. Bu boşluğu doldurmak için akademisyenlerle kapsamlı bir saha araştırması yürütülmüş hem yapılandırılmış sorularla anket yöntemi hem de standart olmayan nitel görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Komplo teorileri kullandığı sakat metodolojiler ve amaca yönelik hipotezleriyle bilimin karşısında yer alan anti-teoriler olmasından dolayı bilimsel düşünceye dayalı yüksek eğitim alan akademisyenlerin komplo teorilerine karşı ihtiyatlı ve eleştirel yaklaşması beklenmektedir. Dolayısıyla söz konusu araştırma bu varsayımı test etmeyi hedeflemektedir. Görüşmeler, akademisyenlerin komplo teorilerine yönelik eğilimlerini, bu eğilimi oluşturan epistemolojik dinamikleri ve akademik dünya ile ilişkisini anlamaya yönelik veriler sunmaktadır. Bu araştırma, bilimsel düşünce ile komplo teorileri arasındaki sınırın ne kadar katı olduğunu keşfetmeye çalışarak, Türkiye’de akademik camiada komplo teorilerinin etkisini analiz etmektedir.

Especially since the 1990s, conspiracy theories have become a significant field of research in academic circles. After integrating into political discourse and the influence of both traditional and social media, conspiracy theories have become more visible in popular culture. This study adopts an interdisciplinary approach to conspiracy theories and examines their place within Turkey's political and ideological landscape. The study aims to observe how conspiracy theories influence academics. Academic research on conspiracy theories in Turkey is limited, particularly in terms of field studies. A comprehensive field study was conducted with academics to fill this gap, employing both structured survey methods and non-standard qualitative interviews. Since conspiracy theories, with their crippled methodologies and purpose-driven hypotheses, stand in opposition to science as anti-theories, it is expected that academics, who receive higher education based on scientific reasoning, will approach them with caution and skepticism. Thus, this study aims to test that assumption. The interviews provide data on academics' tendencies toward conspiracy theories, the epistemological dynamics shaping these tendencies, and their relationship with the academic world. By exploring the rigidity of the boundary between scientific thought and conspiracy theories, this research analyzes the impact of conspiracy theories within Turkey's academic community.
