Publication: Özel okullarda veli memnuniyeti : bir ölçek geliştirme çalışması
Abstract
This study aims to develop a valid and reliable scale that determines the level of satisfaction of private school parents with the private education institutions they choose for their children, with various requests and expectations, in return for a specific price. The first step in developing the Private School Parent Satisfaction Scale was to determine the framework of the concept of satisfaction, which is the subject of the measurement, and a detailed literature review. After a detailed literature review and expert interviews with private school administrators and parents, the dimensions of the concept of parent satisfaction for private schools were revealed. Eighty-one item pools were created by preparing statements to measure each dimension. For the content validity analysis of the created item pool, an expert opinion form was created and sent to 5 academicians, four doctoral educators and two private school founder administrators who have studies on this subject for their opinions. It was made with expert opinions using the Lawshe method. The preliminary scale form was collected with the selected sample (N=300). As a result of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and reliability studies, a 5-point Likert-type measurement tool consisting of 26 items and seven factors was developed to measure the level of private school parent satisfaction. Seven factors were identified by looking at the contents of the factorized expressions as follows: communication and accessibility, reliability/ security, education, counselling, physical conditions, social and sports opportunities, and price. In order to test the 7-factor structure of the obtained measurement tool, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied to a sample group of 387 private school parents. It was determined that the scale structure consisting of 7 factors as appropriate. As a result, the analyzes have proven that the Private School Parent Satisfaction Scale, which consists of 26 items and seven factors, is valid and reliable. The satisfaction levels of private school parents were also examined with the scale form applied. The highest level of satisfaction of parents is education; the lowest was calculated in the price sub-dimension. While the satisfaction levels of private school parents do not show a significant difference according to gender and age, It has been determined that there is a significant difference according to the education level and total household income variables.
