Sosyal bilgiler dersinde müze eğitiminin akademik başarı ve tarihsel empatiye etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, müzede yapılan yaratıcı drama çalışmalarının dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarılarına ve tarihsel empati becerilerine etkilerini incelemek amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışma nicel araştırma modeli ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada zayıf deneysel desenlerden olan statik grup karşılaştırmalı desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, İstanbul ilinin Anadolu yakasında bulunan özel bir ilkokulda bulunan iki şubede 20’si kız, 20’si erkek 40 adet dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma grubunun oluşturulmasında amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden kolayda ulaşılabilir örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Seçilen şubelerden biri deney grubu, biri de kontrol grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Deney grubunda araştırmacı tarafından seçilen müzede yaratıcı drama çalışmaları ile belirlenen kazanımlar ele alınmıştır. Kontrol grubunda ise öğretim kapsamında hali hazırda yer alan ders kitapları kullanılarak geleneksel yolla belirlenen kazanımlar ele alınmıştır. Çalışma süreci haftanın iki günü birer ders saati olmak üzere 5 hafta sürmüş ve 10 ders saati uygulama yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin müzede yapılan yaratıcı drama çalışmaları sonucunda hem akademik başarılarında hem tarihsel empati beceri düzeylerinde anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. Akademik başarı ve tarihsel empati beceri düzeyleri arasında ise bir ilişki olmadığına rastlanmıştır.

In this research , the aim is to observe the effects of the creative drama studies done in the museum on the fourth grade students' academic success and historical empathy skills. In accordance with that purpose, the study was conducted using a quantitative research model. The static group comparison design, one of the weak experimental designs, was used in this study. The sample in the research consists of 40 fourth grade students, with 20 boys and 20 girls, from two sections of a private school located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul province. Convenience sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods, was used in forming the study group. One of the selected sections is the experimental group and the other as the control group. In the experimental group, the gains derived from the creative drama studies in the museum selected by the researcher, were considered. On the other hand, by using the lesson books which were already prepared according to the education program, gains determined by traditional means were considered. The process of the study lasted for 5 weeks, with one hour lesson on two days per week, totaling 10 lesson hours of application. As a result of the study, it is observed that there is a significant difference both in academic success and historical empathy skills of the fourth grade students as an outcome of the creative drama studies conducted in the museum. However there is no correlation that was observed between academic success and historical empathy skills.
