Türk sinemasında pygmalion etkisi: “yeşilçam’da pygmalion uyarlamaları ve toplumsal cinsiyet”

Abstract

TÜRK SİNEMASINDA PYGMALİON ETKİSİ “Yeşilçam’da Pygmalion Uyarlamaları ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet” Popüler söylem yaratma aracı olarak Yeşilçam’ın sıradan insana hayat önerileri, yaşam biçimi ve toplumsal cinsiyet temsilleri tezin ana konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada varsayımları sınamak üzere Yeşilçam anlatı kalıplarından yola çıkılarak, tarihsel ve dramaturjik bağlamda geleneksel/ modern çatışmalarına yer verilmiştir. Toplumsal bağlamda ise toplumsal cinsiyet, sınıf atlama ve popüler kültürün söylem yaratma sürecine değinilmiştir. Egemen ideolojinin “ezici” söylemlerinin Pygmalion uyarlamalarında izi sürülebilir. Yeşilçam’da “mutlu sonlarıyla” Pygmalionesk anlatım kalıpları cinsiyetçi ideolojinin “anormallikleri”ni “normalleştirici” bir etkiye de sahiptir. Pygmalion uyarlamalarının cinsiyetçi söylemi, kadının olumsuz anlamları üzerinden ikiliklere dayalı kadın temsilleri sunmaktadır. Yeşilçam’da Pygmalion uyarlamaları ise popüler ürünlerin tahakkümü meşrulaştırdığına dair bu konuda verilebilecek, sistemin sürekli yeniden üretiminin “her şartta” gerçekleştiği örneklerin en önemlilerinden biridir.

PYGMALION EFFECT IN TURKISH CINEMA “Adaptations of the Pygmalion in Turkish Cinema, Social Gender” The main theme of this thesis comprises of the advices on life to ordinary people, lifestyles and social gender representations of Yeşilçam as an instrument of creating popular expression. In order to test the suppositions in the research, the traditional/ modern conflicts in historical and dramaturgical contexts were cited, deriving from Yeşilçam narrative patterns. In a social context, social gender, class change and the expression creation process of popular culture were mentioned. The “oppressive” expressions of the hegemonic ideology can be traced in Pygmalion adaptations. The Pygmalionesque narrative patterns in Yeşilçam with their “happy endings” have also a “normalizing” effect on the “abnormalities” of the sexist ideology. The sexist expressions of Pygmalion adaptations offer representations of women based on dichotomies through the negative connotations of women. Whereas Pygmalion adaptations in Yeşilçam provide some of the most crucial examples of the legitimization of oppression by popular products, where the incessant production of the system takes place “under every condition”.
