Publication: Supplier selection process for furniture manufacturing companies in İstanbul
Abstract
Bu tez Türkiye pazarında yer alan mobilya üreticisi firmaların tedarikçi firma seçim uygulamalarının gösterilmesi amacıyla istenilen tedarikçi firma özelliklerinin ve ideal tedarikçinin seçilmesini sağlamak amacıyla uygulanan adımların ve metotların tarif edilmesiyle ilgilidir. Ayrıca bu tezde tedarikçi firma seçim sorununun çözüm yollarından biri olan ve ortaklık denilen bir stratejik anlaşmadan da söz edilmektedir. Bu anlaşma satın alan firma ve dikkatlice seçilen tedarikçi firma arasında gerçekleşecek uzun süreli bir anlaşmadır. Satınalma personeli, satıştan elde edilen gelirin, yeni mamullerin (malların) üretimi için gerekli olan malzemelerin satın alınması için harcanmasından sorumludur. Bu sorumluluğu yerine getirmede başarısızlık, şirketin maliyetlerini arttıracağı gibi karını da azaltır. Bu durum büyük bir dikkatle yapılması gereken tedarikçi firma seçiminin önemini ispat eder. Türkiye'de üretim şirketleri için tedarikçi firma seçimi üzerine az sayıda araştırma yapılmasının yanı sıra bu ispatlanmış önemde bu konunun tez araştırması olarak seçilmesinde önemli bir etkendir. Tezin uygulama bölümü bir çalışmadan oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışma, araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan ve İstanbul'daki mobilya üreticilerinin satınalma müdürlerine uygulanan anketin sonucunda elde edilen bilgileri içerir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bu firmaların tedarikçi seçimini nasıl gerçekleştirdiklerini ve bunu yaparken hangi kaynakları, teknikleri, metotları ve kriterleri kullandıklarını göstermektir. Bu araştırmanın sonucunda etik nedenlerin, yedek fabrikaların, performans değerlendirme metotlarının ve tedarikçiyle ortak kurulmasının öneminin ve bunların sağladığı faydaların anketi cevaplandıranlar tarafından yeterince iyi bilinmediği görülmüştür.
The aim of this study is to show the supplier selection process for manufacturing companies, which operate in Turkish market, in Furniture Sector by describing the required characteristics of the suppliers, the steps and methods for the selection of the ideal suppliers for the companies. This thesis also proposes a type of strategic alliance called partnership, which is a way of solving the supplier selection problem by making a long-term agreement between the buyer and the carefully selected supplier. Purchasing professional is responsible for buying the needed materials for the production of the goods by spending the money that the firm receives as income from sales. Failure to fulfill this responsibility improves the company cost and decreases the company profit. So this proves the importance of the selection of suppliers for companies that it must be done with giving more care. Despite the limited number of studies about supplier selection for manufacturing companies in Turkey, this proven importance for the companies is the reason for selecting this subject as a research topic. The applied part of the thesis includes a study. This study includes the information gathered by conducting a questionnaire which is designed by the researcher to the purchasing managers of the furniture manufacturing companies in Istanbul. This study aims to show how these companies select their suppliers and to do that which sources, techniques, methods and criterias they use. As a result of this research, it seems that the benefits and importance of ethical considerations, reserve facilities, performance evaluation methods and partnership are not well known by the respondents.
