Abstract
DİN EĞİTİMİ AÇISINDAN İNANÇ GELİŞİM TEORİSİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA DEĞERLENDİRME ÖZET Din Eğitiminin önemli konu başlıklarından birisinin inanç gelişimi olgusu olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. James W. Fowler’ın İnanç GelişimTeorisi, inanç gelişiminde en önemli modellerden biridir. Fowler’ın geliştirdiği İnanç Gelişim Teorisi, inancı gelişimsel olarak ele almaktadır. Teori, insanların hayatını anlamlandıran ve yönlendiren değerlere odaklanmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı; Fowler’ın İnanç GelişimTeorisini, Türk insanı açısından bir bütün olarak değerlendirmektir. J.W. Fowler’ın teorisinin geçerliliğini ülkemizde test etmek amacıyla öncelikle 40-60 yaş aralığında yer alan 40 bireyle (21 erkek-9 kadın) teorinin kendi yöntemi olan görüşmeye dayalı bir araştırma yürütülmüş ardından okul öncesi dönemeden başlayıp belirli gelişim dönemleri (7-12 yaş arası hariç) takip edilmek suretiyle teoriye dayalı olarak yapılmış ülkemizdeki mevcut araştırmalar genel olarak din eğitimi özel olarak ise yetişkin din eğitimi açısından bütünsel bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur. Bu çalışma, İnanç Gelişim Teorisine göre, tüm gelişim basamaklarında ortaya çıkan sonuçların birleşmesiyle elde edilen ortak tablo üzerine bir meta-analiz yapmayı ve Din Eğitimi disiplinine araştırmaya dayalı bir katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; 40-60 yaş arasındaki bireyler, Fowler’ın teorisinde öngördüğü şekilde 4. aşama ve üzeri değil; 3. aşama ve 3 ile 4. aşama arasında geçiş sürecinde bulunmaktadır. Diğer gelişim basamaklarında elde edilen aşama bulguları da -okul öncesi dönem dışında- Fowler’ın teorisini desteklememektedir. Sonuç olarak, Din Eğitimi açısından İnanç Gelişimi Teorisinin; uygulama yöntemiyle ilgili birçok problem ve en önemlisi inancın tanımındaki dinî ve kültürel farklılık sebebiyle, Türk insanının inanç aşamalarını doğru bir şekilde ölçmeye elverişli ve güvenilir olamadığı görülmüştür. A RESEARCH AND EVALUATION ON FAITH DEVELOPMENT THEORY IN TERMS OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Faith development can be mentioned as one of the important issues in religious education. Faith Development Theory of James W. Fowler is regarded as one of the most significant models in faith development. This Faith Development Theory of Fowler explores faith as a developmental process. The goal of this research is to evaluate Faith Development Theory of James W. Fowler with regard to Turkish people as a whole. In order to test the validity of Faith Development Theory of James W. Fowler in our country, Turkey, first, a research based on interviews, which is a method of this theory, was conducted with 40 people (aged between 40-60/ 21 men-19 women). Following this, existing researches based on this theory, which had been carried out in our country including people from the preschool to middle adulthood (except the ones aged between 7-12),were handled and evaluated through holistic assessment from the point of religious education in general. This study aims at performing a meta-analysis according to Faith Development Theory over a common table which has emerged with the combination of results obtained from all stages of development and at the same time contributing to discipline of religions education. According the results of this research; people aged between 40-60 are not ranked at stage 4 and above- as predicted in the Faith Development Theory- but rather at stage 3 or in the transition period between 3 and 4 stage. Furthermore, stage findings gained from other stages of development -except preschool stage -haven’t supported the theory of James Fowler. Eventually, because of many problems in the applications of the method and most importantly because of the religious and cultural differences in the definition of “faith”; Faith Development Theory is seen not to be convenient and reliable in evaluating properly the stage of faith for Turkish people with regard to religious education.
