Publication: Üniversitelerdeki İngilizce okutmanlarının iş tatmini
Abstract
Araştırmamızın konusu, İstanbul'da bulunan dört üniversitede çalışan İngilizce hazırlık bölümü okutmanlarının iş tatminini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın amacı, iş tatmini boyutlarının (genel, içsel ve dışsal) çeşitli demografik değişkenlere göre (cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim düzeyi, bu işyerinde çalışma süresi, toplam çalışma süresi, gelir düzeyi) ve üniversitenin türüne göre (özel ve devlet) farklılık gösterip göstermediğini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Ayrıca iş tatmininin şimdiki işi seçmekteki nedenlere göre farklılığın ölçülmesi de hedeflenmiştir. Araştırmamıza Marmara Üniversitesi (n:50), Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi (n:50), İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi (n:50) ve Yeditepe Üniversitesi'nden (n:84) toplam 234 okutman katılmıştır. Örnekleri grubu,gönüllülük esasına göre seçilmiştir. İş tatmini ve onu etkileyen içsel ve dışsal faktörler, Weiss, Dawis, England ve Lofquist (1967) tarafından geliştirilen Minnesota İş Tatmini Anketi ile ölçülmüştür. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; demografik değişkenler bağlamında yapılan kıyaslamalar, iş tatmini boyutlarının ortalamaları ile yaş ve eğitim düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olduğunu göstermiştir. Öte yandan, iki farklı üniversite türüyle iş tatmini boyutlarının ortalamaları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca,neden bazında yapılan analizler sonucunda ise, iş tatmini ile birinci neden (Yapmak istediği bir işi yapabilme olanağının olması ) arasında anlamlı bir ilişkiye rastlanmıştır.
This study examines the level of job satisfaction among the instructors of English at the language preparatory departments of four universities in İstanbul. The main purpose of the study to find out whether the dimensions of job satisfaction (overall, intrinsic and extrinsic) have differentiating effects on demographic variables (gender, age, educational level, the number of years worked at the present job, the number of years worked, monthly income level) and two different kinds of universities and the primary reason of the job choice. A total of 234 instructors from Marmara University (n:50), Yıldız Technical University (n:50), İstanbul Bilgi University (n:50) and Yeditepe University (n:84) participated in the research. The sampling unit was selected on voluntary basis. The subjects were given the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire designed by Weiss, Dawis, England and Lofquist (1967) to assess the general satisfaction, intrinsic and extrinsic factor scores. According to the results of the research, the comparisons made on the basis of the demographic variables revealed that there is a significant difference between the averages of the dimensions of job satisfaction and age,education level. On the other hand, there is no significant difference between the averages of the dimensions of job satisfaction and two different kinds of universities. In addition to the above mentioned findings, as an outcome of the analysis made on the basis of reasons, it is also found that there is a significant relation between job satisfaction and the first reason which is The opportunitiy to have a job that I have always wanted to do.
