Publication: Rus matbuatında ermeni meselesi (1914-1915)
Abstract
Armenians dwelled in the Ottoman Empire’s land and had liberty which had not been seen in the history before. However, Armenian people were unfaithful to Ottoman Empire whom they had lived with in the same land for centuries. The historical meaning of the Armenian Issue was disagreements and conflicts between Armenians, who wanted to establish their independent state on Ottoman Empire’s land, and Ottoman Empire, who deprecated Armenian movement and tried not to lose their homeland. Interventions of Western countries united with Armenians’ attempts under a reform excuse and this caused to “Armenian Issue” which then became “Armenian Genocide” during the I. World War. Although massacre was done by Armenians and this fact was reflected by Western authors and it was also verified by using both Turkish and foreign archives, the responsibility of genocide has been loaded on Turks since then.
