Abstract
Turkish Adaptation of the ‘Music-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire’Student Name – Surname: Ahmet Alperen AKBULUTConsultant: Prof. Dr. Caglar BATMANDepartment: Ear Nose and Throat Major Science – Audiology ScienceABSTRACTObjective: The aim of this study is to adapt the ‘Music-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire’ (Dritsakis, 2017) into Turkish for adult cochlear implant (CI) users.Design: A total of 323 adult individuals aged between 18-70 were included in the study. The study group consisted of 161 adult CI users, and normal hearing group consisted of 162 individuals who did not have any audiological complaints. The questionnaire was translated into Turkish by bilingual translators after obtaining the necessary permissions. The validity and reliability analyses of the Turkish version of the questionnaire were conducted in accordance with the data obtained from normal hearing individuals and adult CI users. Results: In the reliability analysis, Cronbach's α internal consistency coefficient was determined at least 0.80 for all scales and subscales. In the test-retest correlation analysis with 52 patients, a positive, very strong and statistically significant relationship was found between the two measurement scores of the scale (p <0.001). The difference between test-retest results was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). 2 sub-dimensions were identified as the result of explaratory factor analysis. KMO sample adequacy coefficient calculated in the factor analysis was found to be 0.91. According to the Bartlett test (X2 = 1640,103 p = 0.00, p <0.05), the dimensions obtained were structurally significant. After the factor analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis results indicated that the questionnaire met the criteria standards for adequacy of fit among Turkish adults. Conclusion: As a result of the measurements and statistical analyses, it was concluded that the structure consisting of 2 sections, 17 questions with 2 factors in the first part and 18 questions with 2 factors in the second part is a valid and reliable tool.
