Sınıf dışı etkinliklerin Güneş Sistemi ve Ötesi ünitesinde ortaokul yedinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarıları, bilimsel süreç becerileri ve motivasyonları üzerine etkisi

Abstract

2004 yılından itibaren değişen fen bilimleri öğretim sadece sınıf içi ve sınıf dışında da etkinliklerde bulunmasını desteklemektedir. Bu nedenle formal eğitimin informal eğitim araçlarıyla desteklenmesi etkili bir fen öğretimi için şarttır. Bu konudan yola çıkılarak gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın problem cümlesi “Sınıf dışı etkinliklerin Güneş Sistemi ve Ötesi: Uzay Bilmecesi ünitesinde ortaokul yedinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarısı, bilimsel süreç becerileri ve fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonları üzerine etkisi var mıdır?” olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırma 2013–2014 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Sancaktepe ilçesi sınırlarındaki bir ortaokulun 7. Sınıf öğrencileri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada yöntem olarak ön test- son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel yöntem tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 36 kontrol, 36 deney grubu olmak üzere 72 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Rastgele seçilen kontrol ve deney gruplarında Güneş Sistemi Ve Ötesi: Uzay Bilmecesi ünitesi seçilerek araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kontrol okul içinde derslere devam ederken, deney grubu okul içindeki müfredatı destekleyecek şekilde 4 hafta boyunca, her hafta yaklaşık 2 ders saati boyunca Sancaktepe Bilim Ve Deney Merkezinde sınıf dışı etkinliklerde bulunulmuştur. Araştırma öncesi ve sonrası çalışma grubuna akademik başarı testi, bilimsel süreç becerileri testi ve fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyon ölçeği uygulanarak veriler toplanmıştır. Veriler SPSS 21,0 programında değerlendirilmiştir. Verilerin normal dağılıma uygun olduğu Shapiro-Wilk testi ile tespit edilmiş ve parametrik testler kullanılarak sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler sonucunda akademik başarı testi ve bilimsel süreç becerileri testi toplam puanlarında deney grubu lehine olumlu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyon ölçeğinin bazı alt boyutlarında bir değişim gözlenmezken toplam puanda deney grubu lehine artış gözlenmiştir. The curriculum of sciences changing since 2004, has supported to outside and inside the classroom activities. Therefore formal education must be supported informal education for teaching effective science. This research problem sentence of “İs there the effect of outdoor class activities in the solar system and beyond unit on seventh grade students academic achievements, scientific process abilities and motivation”. In this research pre-test, final test, semi- experimental method with control group have been used. This research was performed on seventh grade students at a secondary school settled in Sancaktepe, İstanbul in 2013-2014 academic year. Study group of the research is constitute of seventy-two students who are constitute thirty-six control group and thirty-six experimental group. The research was performed to randomly choise control and experimental group by selecting “The Solar System and Beyond : Space Riddle” Unit. While the control group was going on the lessons at school. The experimental group was following the outside class activities supporting the school curriculum for four weeks at Sancaktepe Science and Experimental Center, through two lessons time each week. Academic achievement test, scientific process test and motivation scale for learning science have been applied to the groups before and after the research and datas were gathered. The datas were evaluated by SPSS 21.0 programme. It’s been identified by Shapiro-Wilk test that the dataswere appropriate to the normal rangeand the results were received by applyinge parametric test. According to the results gathered by the datas , positive results in the favor of experimental group were taken in the total scores of academic achievement test and scientific process test. While no changements were observed in the subdimensions of motivation scale for learning science , increasement in total score in the favor of experimental group was observed.
