Publication: Kaldirik (Trachystemon Orientalis) bitkisindeki ağır metallerin tayini
Abstract
SUMMARYObjective: In this study, we aim to indicate the results of heavy metal concentrations in Trachystemon orientalis (L.) G. Don (Boraginaceae) plant which are collected from two different regions and consumed both as complementary medicine and food in Düzce Kaynaşlı and Gümüşova.Material and Methods: Plant leaves sample which are collected in spring season kept under suitable conditions and prepared by wet digestion and microwave digestion. Plant samples was analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer (FAAS) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrophotometer (ICP-OES) to indicate heavy metals which are iron, zinc, copper, lead, cadmium and chromium. Results: The concentrations of iron, zinc, copper and chromium metals in the dissolved plant samples were within acceptable levels for the plants. However, lead and cadmium concentration in terms of toxic accumulation can be avoided. Conclusions: The results obtained by using two spectrophotometric methods for the metal concentrations in samples dissolved by wet digestion and microwave decomposition methods were compared by applying t-test between 90% and 95% confidence interval.
