Publication: Es’ad Mehmed Efendi’ nin, hayatı- eserleri ve Gülistan- ı Şemail’i
Abstract
Araştırmamızın konusu, Esad Efendi'nin hayatı, eserleri ve Gülistan-ı Şemail adlı eseridir. Amacımız, eserin edisyon kritiğini yapmak, müellifin hayatını ortaya koymaktır. Esad Efendi 16. yüzyılın sonu, 17. yüzyılın başında yaşamış, Şeyhülislamlık yapmış,hükümet işlerinde oldukça faal roller üstlenmiş bir şahsiyettir. Özellikle II. Osman zamanında İstanbul'daki isyanı önlemeye, aynı zamanda damadı olan Padişahı kurtarmaya çalışmış, ancak başarılı olamamıştır. Bu sebeple Esad Efendi'nin hayatı ile ilgili bilgi edinmede hiç zorlanmadık. Devrindeki bütün tarihler , tezkireler ondan ayrıntılarıyla bahsetmektedir. Edebi alanda da Esad Efendi Türkçe, Arapça, Farsça güzel eserler vermiştir. Bunlardan biri de çalışmamızın konusu olan Gülistan-ı Şemail'dir. Esad Efendi, peygamberimiz hakkında bir hilye yazar ve I. Ahmed'e sunar. Çok beğenen Padişah, ondan dört halife hakkında da hilye yazmasını ister. Eser bu şekilde vücuda gelir. Yaklaşık 1200 beyitten oluşmuş ve manzum olarak yazılmıştır. Tevhid mahiyetindeki bir bölüm, ardından peygamberimiz ile ilgili kısım yer alır. Bundan sonra Sultan Ahmed'e dua ve te'lif sebebinin anlatıldığı bölüme geçilir. Nihayet dört halifenin hilyesi yazılmaya başlanır. Her halife tek tek ele alınır: Hz. Ebubekir, Hz. Ömer, Hz. Osman, Hz. Ali...Önce halifenin dış vasıflarıyla ilgili hadislerin Arapça metni verilir ardından manzum tercüme ve şerhi yapılır. Fezail başlıklı bölümlerde Hazreti Peygamberin o halifenin fazileti hakkında söylediği hadislerin yine Arapça metni verilir, manzum tercüme ve şerhi yapılır. Eser harekeli nesih yazı ile yazılmış olmasına rağmen, bazen harekelerin yanlış konulması sebebiyle bazı zorluklarla karşılaştık ve titiz bir çalışmayla metni en doğru şekliyle ortaya çıkarmaya çalıştık. Esad Efendi'nin hayatını da devrinin siyasi polemiklerine dalmadan ilginize sunduk.
I have searched about Esad Efendi's life, books and his trace named Gülistan-ı Şemail. My aim was to clarify the transcription of the trace and life of the writter. Esad Efendi lived at the and of 16th century and beginning of 17th century. He worked for the government and been as a sheikhulislam ( şeyhu'l-islam ). Especially he tried to prevent the rebellion in İstanbul during the Osman II. Period, and save the Sultan who was his son-in-law also, but he was unsuccessful. So, we did not have any difficulty in searching for information about the life of Esad Efendi. All the history books and biographical dictionaries (tezakir ) contain detailed information about him. Esad Efendi wrote many books in Turkısh,Arabic and Persian lenguages. One of them is Gülistan-ı Şemail which is also our subject of research. Esad Efendi wrote a personal appearance, form and features ( hilye ) about our beloved Prophet and submitted it to Sultan Ahmed I. Sultan liked it so much that he asked Esad Efendi to write a hilye about Four Caliphes. The trace contains approximately 1200 couplets and is written in a poetry form. The first part is the song praising God ( tevhid ) and then comes the part about our beloved Prophet. Then comes the part containing praying to Sultan Ahmed and cause of writing this trace. Following all this part, hilye of the Four Caliphes starts. Each Caliph is studied one by one : Hz. Ebubekir, Hz. Ömer, Hz. Osman, Hz. Ali. First of all, the Arabic text of the Hadiths about the outer features of the Caliph is given and then the translation of the poem and the commentary is made. İn the parts named Fezail, the Arabic form of Hadiths said by our Prophet about the mentioned Caliph is given and the translation of the poem and the commentary is made. Although the book is written in a vowel- points inserted nesih form, we had some difficulties in reading since some of the vowel- points ( hareke ) were in the wrong place. But we worked meticulously in order to make a good research. We also researched about his life without any political polemics of his era.
