Non invasive mechanical ventilation and respiratory physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation

Abstract

Respiratory physiotherapy and pulmonary rehabilitation are vital for all individuals with respiratory disease or complications. Although they represent different fields, they are integral cornerstones of respiratory care. Interest in these two methods, which can be applied in almost every field in hospitals, is increasing due to the increasing number of respiratory patients. Respiratory physiotherapists provide qualified treatment services in acute and chronic diseases, emergency departments, intensive care units, inpatient or outpatient services of hospitals. These specialized treatment methods are developing rapidly and it is revealed that they can be applied in different areas. They are inexpensive, effective and non-pharmacological methods with biopsychosocial benefits such as preventing complications, improving functions, prophylaxis, relaxation, and gaining selfmanagement skills.
