NEEDS ASSESSMENT OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO DEVELOP THEIR TRANSACTIONAL LEVEL E-BUSINESS: A STUDY OF SMES IN AZERBAIJAN Electronic business (e-business) today plays a major role in the world's economy. Moreover, the emergence of electronic business over the past decade has radically transformed the economic landscape. Countries that lag behind in technological innovations risk being bypassed by the competitive edge of those using the new technologies. For developing countries and transition economies the digital revolution offers unprecedented opportunities for economic growth and development provided that they take the advantage of ICT and the Internet. Facilitating an efficient and effective deployment of ICT resources in Azerbaijan and developing and moving onto the transactional stage of e-business in private sector will significantly contribute to the economical development of the country. This research investigates what the Private Sector firms in Azerbaijan need for developing their transactional level e-business. Daha da önemlisi, elektronik ticaretin ortaya çıkması son on yıl içerisinde önemli şekilde ekonomi strüktürünün değişmesine sebep olmuştur. Gelişmiş teknolojiler kullanan ülkelerle kıyaslandığında, yeterli teknolojik donanıma sahip olmayan ülkeler, gelişme ve rekabette çok geride kalma riski taşımaktadırlar. Bilinçli bir şekilde Bilişim Teknolojilerinin ve İnternetin sunduğu imkanları kullanabildikleri taktirde, Dijital Devrim gelişmekte olan ve geçiş ekonomiye sahip ülkelerin ekonomik kalkınmaları için eşsiz fırsatlar sağlar. Azerbaycan'da Bilişim Teknolojilerinin benimsenmesi, faydalı kullanımı, özel sektörün e-ticaretin işlem düzeyine geçişi, ülke ekonomisin gelişmesine önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır. Bu araştırma, Azerbaycan'ın özel sektöründe faaliyet gösteren şirketlerin e-ticaretin işlem düzeyine geçiş sürecindeki ihtiyaçları tespit etmektedir.
