Publication: Bireysel ve takım sporcularında bağlanma stilleri ile başarı hedefleri arasındaki ilişkide kontrol odağının aracı etkisi
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the mediating effects of locus of control in the relationship between attachment styles and achievement goals in individual and team athletes. In addition, it is to examine whether achievement goals and locus of control as dependent variables, differ according to gender, sport type and sport experience by controlling the effect of attachment levels. Method: Total 350 athletes, 163 women and 187 men, between the ages of 18-35, who do individual and team sports, participated in the study. Experiences in Close Relationships Scale Short Form, 2x2 Achievement Goals Questionnaire for Sport, Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale, Personal Information Form were applied to the participants. Mediated by bootstrap technique and multivariate analysis of covariance were used in the analysis of the data. Result: In the multivariate analysis of covariance, when attachment levels were controlled, a gender difference was found in achievement goals and locus of control. There is no significant difference according to sport type and sport experience. Mediation analysis results show that locus of control has a mediating effect on the relationship between anxious attachment and mastery-avoidance. In addition, avoidant attachment is a negative significant predictor of mastery-approach and mastery-avoidance. Anxious attachment mastery-approach negatively; It is a positive significant predictor of mastery-avoidance, performance-approach, performance-avoidance and locus of control. Locus of control is a positive significant predictor of mastery-avoidance. Conclusion: It can be said that attachment styles of individual and team athletes affect their success goals through locus of control.
