Publication: Examining the relationship between quality of work life and quiet quitting : the moderating role of psychological resilience
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between employees' quality of work life and quiet quitting and to reveal the moderating role of psychological resilience, which is the ability to bounce back from adversity, in this relationship. Based on the literature review and theories, a negative relationship between the quality of work life and quiet quitting was predicted. The study was structured assuming that psychological resilience could moderate this relationship. To test the research model, data were collected by sending an online survey form to 190 people working in the private and public sectors. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The survey form, which included demographic information forms, quiet quitting, quality of work life, and psychological resilience scales, was shared with the participants. Factor analysis, correlation analysis, independent samples t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analyses, and moderator tests were performed in the data analyses. As a result of the analyses, a weak and negative connection was revealed between the quality of work life and quiet quitting. However, no significant moderating effect of psychological resilience was found in the relationship between the quality of work life and quiet quitting. The study contributes to the literature by revealing the relationship of the quiet quitting concept with organizational factors. It also provides strategic advice to managers on increasing employee engagement and preventing quiet quitting.
