Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin uzaktan eğitimde karşılaştığı sorunlar ve çözüm önerileri (Elazığ örneği)

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Covid-19 salgın süreci ve uzaktan eğitime ilişkin Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin algılarını belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, temel durum deseninde nitel araştırma yöntemlerini kullanarak tasarlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu, Elazığ il merkezinde bulunan devlet ortaokullarında görev yapan 20 Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Bu öğretmenlerin salgın döneminde ve uzaktan eğitim sürecinde yaşadıkları deneyimleri, algıları ve görüşlerini anlamak için derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Araştırma, Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin bu olağanüstü döneme ilişkin duygu, düşünce ve deneyimlerini anlamak ve uzaktan eğitimin etkilerini değerlendirmek için önemli bir katkı sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma grubunun belirlenmesinde maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemi yöntemi kullanılmıştır, bu da farklı özelliklere sahip öğretmenlerin temsil edilmesini sağlamıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak uzman görüşü alınarak hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiş, tablolaştırılarak frekanslarla sunulmuş ve doğrudan alıntılarla desteklenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin Covid-19 salgını hakkındaki düşünceleri, salgının eğitim sistemine etkileri, uzaktan eğitimle Sosyal Bilgiler dersi öğretimine yönelik görüşleri, uzaktan eğitim sürecinde yaşadıkları sorunlar ve çözüm önerileri ile salgın sonrasında eğitim hayatında beklenen değişiklikler temalarına ulaşılmıştır. Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenleri, Covid-19 salgını ve uzaktan eğitim sürecini öğrenci, öğretmen, eğitim-öğretim süreci, yüz yüze eğitim açısından değerlendirmişlerdir. Salgın sürecinde okuldan uzak kalan öğrencilerin ve öğretmenlerin motivasyonunun düştüğünü ve psikolojilerinin olumsuz etkilendiğini vurgulamışlardır. Zorunlu uzaktan eğitim sürecinde teknolojinin etkin kullanımı, EBA platformunun yaygınlaşması ve farklı uzaktan eğitim uygulamalarının ortaya çıkması gibi olumlu özelliklerin varlığına dikkat çekilmiştir. Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenleri, gelecekte uzaktan eğitimin kalıcı hale gelebileceğini ve Covid-19 gibi salgınların öğretim programlarına entegre edilebileceğini ifade etmişlerdir.

This study aims to determine the perceptions of Social Studies teachers regarding the Covid-19 pandemic process and distance education. The study was designed using qualitative research methods in phenomenology design. The study group consisted of 20 Social Studies teachers working in public secondary schools in Elazığ city center. The experiences of these teachers during the pandemic and distance education process were analyzed in depth to understand their perceptions and views. The research aims to make an important contribution to understanding the feelings, thoughts and experiences of Social Studies teachers regarding this extraordinary period and to evaluate the effects of distance education. Maximum variation sampling method was used to determine the study group, which ensured that teachers with different characteristics were represented. A semi-structured interview form prepared with expert opinion was used as a data collection tool. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis, tabulated and presented with frequencies and supported with direct quotations. As a result of the research, the themes of Social Studies teachers’ thoughts about the Covid-19 pandemic, the effects of the pandemic on the education system, their views on teaching Social Studies courses through distance education, the problems they experienced during the distance education process and their solution suggestions, and the expected changes in educational life after the pandemic were reached. Social Studies teachers evaluated the Covid-19 pandemic and the distance education process in terms of students, teachers, education process and face-to-face education. They emphasized that the motivation of students and teachers who stayed away from school during the pandemic decreased and their psychology was negatively affected. In the compulsory distance education process, the existence of positive features such as the effective use of technology, the widespread use of the EBA platform and the emergence of different distance education applications were emphasized. Social Studies teachers stated that distance education can become permanent in the future and that pandemics such as Covid-19 can be integrated into curricula.
