Abstract
Süleyman Nazif; edebiyatçı, devlet adamı, gazeteci kimlikleriyle ön plana çıkmış bir vatanperverdir. Yazılarında konu edindiği siyasi profilli şahsiyetlerin vatan uğruna verdikleri mücadeleleri anlatmıştır. Edebi kimliğiyle ön plana çıkan şahısları da düşünceleri ve eserlerinden hareketle ele almıştır. Bu sayede Nazif, kendi perspektifinden bahsettiği şahsiyetlerle ilgili bakış açısı oluşmasını sağlamıştır. Nazif, İttihat ve Terakki Partisine eleştirel bir bakış açısı getirmiştir. Meclisin görevlerini layıkıyla yerine getirmemesi, vatandaşların da duyarsızlığı iç siyasette huzursuzluğu doğurmuştur. 20. Yüzyıla damgasını vuran Trablusgarb ve Balkan Savaşları Osmanlı’ya kan kaybettirerek beraberinde ittifak arayışını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Nazif ile Agayef arasındaki heyecan dozu yüksek ve ateşli tartışmalar, Osmanlıcılıkİslâmcılık-Türkçülük fikirleri minvalinde olgunlaşmıştır. Nazif, içte ve dışta cereyan eden kaotik dönemin siyasi konularına temas ederek gündemin nabzını tutmuş, adeta milletin yükselen sesi olmuştur. Osmanlı Türkçesini sadeleştirme hareketlerine karşı çıkan Nazif, bu dili ve aruz veznini savunmuştur. Klasik Edebiyattaki büyük şairlerimizin eserleri ona göre payidar kalacaktır. Ayrıca Musul topraklarının durumu, tarlaların verimli hale getirilmesi ve meşhur Teksas hadisesi gibi konularla ekonomik meseleleri mercek altına almıştır. Nazif, sadece siyasi anlamda değil edebi ve ekonomik anlamda da çok yönlü kişiliğini ve güçlü kalemini konuşturmuştur.
