Publication: XVIII. Yüzyıla ait bir el yazması mecmuada dini musiki güfteleri
Abstract
RELIGIOUS MUSIC LYRICS IN A MANUSCRIPT ANTHOLOGY BELONGING TO EIGHTEENTH CENTURY When called as Turkish Religious Music, the meant music is the religious music that has developed within the Ottoman culture and civilization at every place it was performed, led by tekkes and mosques. As a part of the traditional Ottoman-Turkish music, religious music pieces were also transferred via memorizing by meşk system and no notation was used. For this reason we can only learn the existence and characteristic of the pieces other than the ones which have remained up to now with their musics, from the lyrics anthologies (güfte mecmuaları) written at various periods and which are now at some libraries and personal collections. So the subject of this thesis work is one important of these anthologies that belongs to Millet Library in Fatih İstanbul, registered at number 637 of the section Ali Emiri Manzum. This work is consisted of four chapters. In chapter two, information is given about the composers who are mentioned in the anthology and an assessment is put on the two most important composers of the era, Itrî and Ali Şîruganî Dede. The third chapter is consisted of the transcription of the text of the anthology into the contemporary alphabet. The musical notes of the anthology's pieces that have remained up to now with their musics form the fourth chapter. At the end of the thesis work, the copy of the original text extracted from the microfilm is given as an appendix.
