Teknik dekor yöntemlerinin özgün seramik yapıtlarda kullanımı

Abstract

Teknik Dekor Yöntemlerinin Özgün Seramik Yapıtlarda Kullanımı ÖZET Uygarlıkların ortaya çıkışıyla başlayan kil kullanımı ve seramik eşya yapı-mı, günümüze kadar gelişerek bir endüstri ve sanat dalı olmuştur. Başlangıcından bugüne değin geçen süreç içinde ise estetik ve ekonomik amaçların ötesinde; toplumların duyarlılığını, kültürel düzeyini, dinsel inanç ve davranışlarını, toplum içi ilişkilerini, kısaca güncel yaşamlarını, duygu düşünce ve beklentilerini yansıtmak amacı ile seramik yüzeylerde dekor/ süsleme yöntem- leri uygulanmıştır. Endüstri devrimiyle başlayan teknolojik gelişmeler, insanlığın üretimde tari- hi boyunca kullandığı tüm araç-gereç ihtiyaçlarının alanını ve boyutlarını değişi-me uğratmıştır.II.Endüstri devrimi denilen süreç ile de canlı enerjinin yerine me- kanik enerjinin geçmesi yanında, insan yaratıcılığı, karar verme yeteneği yerine alternetif sibernetik arayışlara gidilmiştir.20.yy.da sibernetik ve otomasyon(siber- nasyon) insan beyninden çok daha hızlı ve çok daha hassas işleyen makinalar kurmaya olanak sağlamıştır. 21. Yüzyıldaki gelişmeler hızla sürmekte ve Nano olarak adlandırılan teknolojik çağa hızla yaklaşılmaktadır. İnterdisipliner bilim ve sanat bağlamında bunların düşünme ve uygulama alanları da sanatçının düşünme ve yaratma alanlarını etkileyerek teknolojiyi kul-lanma olanakları yaratmıştır. Özellikle malzemeye dayalı tüm sanatlarda bu eği-lim sanatçıya önemli bir ivme sağlamıştır. Bu bağlamda seramik sanatçılarının özgün seramik yapıtlarını incelemek daha doğru olacaktır. Bu çalışma, çağımızda hızla gelişen teknoloji, bunun seramik dekor yöntem- leri üzerindeki etkisi ve sanatçıların özgün yapıtlarında kullanımı ilişkisini ince-ler. Seramiğin günlük kullanım eşyası olmaktan çıkıp, günümüz çağdaş seramik sanatında, bir sanat nesnesi ve ifade aracı olarak yerini alabilmesi uzun bir süreç- tir.Teknolojinin gelişmesiyle birlikte, endüstriyel alanda olduğu gibi sanat alanın- da da evrimler geçirerek günümüze ulaşmıştır. Bu nedenle bu çalışma, “Sanat Kavramı ve Seramik Sanatı” başlıklı bir bölümle başlar. İnsanın doğasında bir form üretme ve form algılama içgüdüsü bulunmakta-dır ve her yerde biçimlere dayalı bir düzen oluşturmaya çalışır.Formların yüzeyi- ne, renk, ton ve doku unsurlarının da katılımı ile, vurgulanmak istenen konu veya hikaye resimsel veya grafiksel anlatımlarla aktarılır. İşte bu, forma ayrı bir değer katan dekor unsurudur. “Seramik Sanatında Dekor Kavramı” başlıklı bölümde dekor/ süs kavramı, tanımı, gerekliliği, sanatlarla ilişkisi ve dekor-üslup ilişkisi incelenir. Burada dekor kavramının seramik sanatındaki yeri üzerinde durulur. Seramik yapıtların üretiminde, kullanılan yöntem hiç kuşkusuz belirleyici özellik taşır.Bu seramiğin üstesinden gelinmesi gereken teknik boyutudur.Teknik boyut seramik yapıtın oluşmasında ve varlığını sürdürmesinde önemli rol oynar- ken sanatçının kendini ifade biçimini de belirler. Son teknolojik gelişmeleri içeri- sinde barındırırken sanatçıya geniş ifade olanakları sağlayan mekanik üretime da- yalı baskı dekorları araştırmanın asal içeriğini oluşturur. Kapsamında, rölyef bas- kı, gravür baskı, elek (şablon) baskı, litografik baskı, mono baskı, foto-seramik baskı, lazer (gravür) baskı ve geliştirilmekte olan yeni teknolojileri içerir. İnsanoğlu varoluşundan itibaren çevresini ve kullandığı eşyaları süsleme kaygısı nedeniyle, seramik ürünlere daha estetik bir görünüm kazandırmayı amaçlamış ve dekor yöntemlerini geliştirerek farklı arayışlara gitmiştir. Daha sonraları toplumların ve teknolojinin gelişmesine paralel olarak dekor yöntemleri ve bu yöntemlerde kullanılan aletler geliştirilmiştir. Konu “Seramik Teknik Dekor Yöntemleri ve Tarihsel Süreçteki Yeri” başlıklı bir bölümle incelenir. “Çağdaş Seramik Sanatı İçinde Teknik Dekor Yöntemleri Kullanımının İn- celenmesi” başlığı altında, Çağdaş seramik sanatının oluşumunda önemli bir dö- nüm noktası olan endüstri devriminden başlayarak günümüz sanatına kadarki dönem incelenir. Endüstri devrimiyle başlayan süreçte ana özellik olan baskı de-korların gelişimi ve kullanımının incelenmesi esas alınmıştır. Bu dönem içerisin- de ortaya çıkan sanat akımları, fikir ve anlayışlar çalışma kapsamında ele alın-maktadır. Sınırların ortadan kalktığı günümüz sanat ortamında, yeniye ve bilinmeye-ne doğru yapılan tüm cesaretli çalışmalarla, farklı yaklaşımlar ve deneysel ifade yöntemi araştırmalarının hiç kuşkusuz sanata önemli katkıları olacaktır. Sanatçı-nın kullandığı malzeme ve bu malzemeyi sanat eserine dönüştürürken kullandığı teknik ve yöntemler, sanatsal bir ileti aracı olarak, verilmek istenen mesajın doğ-ru iletilmesini sağlar. “Özgün Seramik Yapıtlarında Teknik Dekor Yöntemlerini Kullanan Sanatçılar”başlığı altında sanatçıların özgün yapıtları, tarihsel süreç içe- risinde incelenir. Bu bölümde ayrıca konu kapsamında, ana teknolojik gelişme olarak ele alınan transfer baskı teknik dekor yöntemi ile hazırladığım seramik uygulamalarıma yer vermekteyim. Bu çalışmada görülüyor ki, yaşadığı çağın ve toplumun özelliklerini kendine özgü yöntemlerle inceleyen ve yorumlayan sanatçı, yaşadığı çağı algılayışının yansımalarıyla var olana yeni ve farklı birim-ler ekleyerek yeni oluşumlara katkı sağlamaktadır. Sonuç olarak seramiğin anlatım dilindeki en önemli unsur teknolojidir. Bu teknoloji bilime dayalıdır ve bu anlamda sürekli değişim ve gelişim içindedir. Teknolojideki gelişmeler ve yenilikler, seramik sanatına yansırken büyük katkılar sağlamakta ve sanatçıya geniş ifade olanakları yaratmaktadır. Bu anlamda sera-mik sanatçısının kullandığı yöntemler çok çeşitlilik içerirken, seramik sanatını da diğer sanat dallarından daha avantajlı konuma getirir. Çağımızda, sanatların farklı alanları arasındaki sınırların giderek belirsizleş- mesi, seramik sanatında farklı yaklaşımlara neden olmaktadır. Seramik yüzeyler- de, biçimler, renkler ve sırlamalar grafik olabilmekte, kelimeleri içerebilmekte, karmaşık görsel imajlar taşıyabilmektedir. Seramiğin yüzeyi ve teknik olanakları sanatçıya geniş olanaklar sunmaktadır, hiç kuşkusuz yeni keşiflerle sunuşları sü-recektir. Sanatçıların, yaşadığı çağ ve bireysel özelliklerinin de yansımasıyla ce-saretli adımlarla oluşturdukları özgün, yaratıcı, deneysel çalışmaları öncü görevi yapacaktır. Artık yalnızca izleyicinin göz zevkini okşayan eser üretme yaklaşımı geçer- liğini yitirirken, izleyiciyi zorlayan, kışkırtan, düşündüren yapıtlar üreterek, izle-yicinin zihnindeki tabuları yıkmak esas amaç olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Fotografik görüntüler izleyici tarafından daha kolay algılanabildiğinden ol-dukça büyük bir etkiye sahiptir. Bu bağlamda seramik baskı teknolojisindeki ge-lişmeler çağdaş seramik sanatçılarına yepyeni olanaklar sunmaktadır. Günümüz sanatçısının, teknik ve bilimsel gelişmelerin hızla ilerlemekte ol-duğu böyle bir çağda kendisini bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelere kapaması ola-naksızdır. Artık sanatçı, çağının ona sağladığı bilimsel ve teknik yenilikleri eser-lerinde kullanırken, ifade gücünü güçlendirecek yeni anlatım olanaklarını oluş-turmayı ve geliştirmeyi amaçlamalıdır. Teknik gelişmeler bu anlamda sanatçının ifadesini güçlendiren araçlar konumundadır. İletişim büyük önem kazanmıştır. Sanatın insanlar arası iletişim aracı olma niteliği tamamen teknolojinin eline geçmiştir. Bu durumda sanatçı teknolojiyi kendi amaçları doğrultusunda kullanmak ve geliştirmek görevini üstlenmelidir.

Use of clay and manufacture of ceramic objects, which began with the rise of civilizations, has become a branch of art and industry today, evolving through the ages until present day. During the period from its beginning to this day, various methods of décor/ decoration have been applied on ceramic surfaces in order to reflect the sensitivity, cultural level, religious beliefs and behaviors, interactions in society, in other words daily lives, feelings, thoughts and expectations of societies, beyond aesthetic and economical concerns. The technological developments, which began with the Industrial Revolution, altered the area and the dimension for the need of the tools and devices used in production during the history. With the Second Industrial Revolution, along with the replacement of the dynamic energy with the mechanical energy, alternative cybernetics searches have become a choice over the human creativity and decision making capability. In the 20th century, cybernetics and automation (cybernation) enabled to design machines which operate far faster and more precisely than human brain. The developments are continuing rapidly, and the technological age called Nano is soon to be approached in the 21st century. In the context of interdisciplinary science and art, the thinking and application areas of these developments created some opportunities to use technology affecting the artist’s thinking and creating areas. This tendency, particularly in all types of the material arts, accelerated the artists in a great deal. So, in this context, it would be more appropriate to study the original works of ceramic artists. This study analyzes the relationship between the effects of rapidly developing technology on the methods of ceramic decorations and its application on the original works of the artists. It has been a long process for ceramic art to find itself a place as an art object and tool for artistic expression after having been used as a domestic use. It has reached to this day by evolving itself both in industrial and artistic areas. Therefore, this study begins with the part titled as “The Concept of Art and Ceramic Art”. There is an instinct of form production and form perception in human nature, and this instinct tries to create a form-oriented system. The topic or the story, which is aimed to be emphasized, is expressed with painterly and graphical expressions on the surfaces of the forms, adding the elements of color, shade and texture. So the decor is a distinguishing element for the form. The concept of decor/ ornament, its definition and necessity, its relationship with other arts, and the relationship of decor/ style are analyzed under the title of “The Concept of Decor in the Ceramic Art”. Here, where the concept of decor stands in the ceramic art is emphasized. The methods used in the production of ceramic works are doubtlessly determining factors. This is the technical dimension of ceramic which needs to be handled. While the technical dimension plays a significant role in the formation and existing of ceramic work, it also determines the way of artist’s self expression. While it includes the state of the art developments in it, it also forms basic content of the study along with the imprint decors, based on mechanical production, which enables extensive ways of expression for the artist. It contains relief printing, etching, screen printing, lithographic printing, mono-printing, photo-ceramic printing, laser (etching) print and the new technologies which are currently being developed. Since their existence human beings have aimed at giving a more aesthetic appearance to ceramic products with the concern of decorating their environment and the objects they used, and sought for the new by developing new decor methods. Later on, along with the development of societies and technology, new decor methods and tools have been developed. This subject is analyzed under the title of “Ceramic Technical Decor Methods and Their Place in the Historical Process”. The period beginning with the Industrial Revolution, which has become a turning point in the formation of ceramic art until today’s art is studied under the title of “The Analysis of the Use of Technical Decor Methods in the Contemporary Ceramic Art”. Here the analysis of the development and the use of print decors, which was the main characteristic of this period is predicated on. The art movements, which emerged in this period, are discussed within the context of the study of thoughts and perceptions. In today’s art medium, where the limits have disappeared, all the courageous studies towards the new and the unknown, different approaches and the researches for the experimental method of expression will certainly make a significant contribution to art. The material used by the artist, and the techniques and methods that the artist use to transform this material into a work of art, ensure to forward the message aimed in an artistic way. The original works of the artists in the historical process of the ceramic art are analyzed under the title of “The Artists Who Used the Methods of Technical Decor on the Original Ceramic Works”. I also cover my ceramic applications which I prepared with the method of transfer printing decoration, considered as the main technological development in the context of this subject. As it can be seen in this study, the artist, who studies and interprets the characteristics of his age and society with his own peculiar methods, contribute new formations to the existent by adding new and different points with the reflections of his age’s perception. Consequently, the most significant element for the expression language of ceramic is technology. This technology is based on science, and it is within a constant change and development in this context. While the developments and innovations in technology reflect in ceramic art, they make significant contributions to it, and offer the artists extensive ways of expression. In this context, the methods used by the ceramic artists diversify in a great deal, and this makes ceramic art more advantageous than the other arts. That the borders among the various fields of arts become indefinite more and more create different approaches in the ceramic art. On ceramic surfaces, forms, colors and glazing can turn into graphic, contain words, and hold visual images. The surface and technical possibilities of ceramic offer extensive facilities to the artists, and doubtlessly will continue offering them with the new inventions. The original, creative and experimental works formed by the artists with courageous steps, reflected by the age and the personal features of the artists will certainly pioneer in art. While the approach of producing works which only catch the eye disappear, removing taboos in viewers’ mind by producing works, which awaken the viewers and make them think, becomes the main purpose now. Because photographic images can be perceived by viewers more easily, they have a pretty big influence on them. In this context, the developments in the ceramic printing technologies offer newfangled possibilities to the contemporary ceramic artists. It would be impossible that today’s artists to keep a close eye on the scientific and technological developments at an age when all these developments advance at the double. While today’s artists use the scientific and technological innovations, which are offered by their age, in their works, they should aim at creating and developing new possibilities of expression which would strengthen their expressive force. In this sense, technical developments are the tools which strengthen the artists’ expression. Communication has become very important. The duty of art to be a tool of communication among people has completely been passed into the hands of technology. So the artist has to undertake the post of using and developing technology in accordance with his own aims.
