Bilimkurgu filmleri ve bilimkurgu kitaplarının 7. Sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde çevre okuryazarlığına etkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Yapılan araştırma bilimkurgu filmlerinin ve bilimkurgu kitaplarının fen dersinde kullanılmasının 7. sınıf öğrencilerinde çevre okuryazarlığına, etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın ana problemi “bilimkurgu filmlerinin ve bilimkurgu kitaplarının ortaokul 7. Sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde çevre okuryazarlığına etkisi var mıdır?” şeklinde belirlenmiştir. Araştırma 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılı birinci yarısında, İstanbul ili Ümraniye ilçesinde bulunan bir ortaokulun 7. sınıfında, aralarında belirgin fark bulunmayan 3 ayrı sınıfta okuyan her bir sınıf 21 kişi toplam 63 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sınıflardan biri kontrol diğer ikisi deney grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Kontrol grubunda klasik yöntem ve tekniklerle fen bilimleri dersi öğretim takip edilmiştir. Deney gruplarından birinde yapılandırmacı yaklaşım ile birlikte yürütülecek şekilde çevre ile ilgili 3 bilimkurgu filmi izletilmiş, diğer deney grubunda ise yapılandırmacı yaklaşım ile birlikte yürütülecek çevre ile ilgili 3 bilimkurgu kitabı okutulmuştur. Araştırma 6 hafta boyunca yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada nicel ve nitel araştırma yöntemlerine başvurulmuş ve karma desen kullanılmıştır. 6 hafta süren araştırmada nicel veri toplama aracı olarak “Çevre Okuryazarlığı Ölçeği” çevresel bilgi, çevresel duyuş ve çevresel davranış alt boyutları şeklinde öntest ve sontest olarak uygulanmıştır. Bu testin sonucundan elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler sonucunda deney 1 ve deney 2 grubunun çevre okuryazarlığı alt boyutlarıyla ölçülen, araştırmanın alt problemlerinden bazılarında anlamlı farklılık tespit edilmiştir. Çevre okuryazarlığı testinin diğer bir alt boyutu bilişsel beceri testi ve uygulama sonucunda öğrencilerin çalışmaya yönelik düşüncelerini almak için uygulanan görüşme formu nitel olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Nitel verilerin analizinde içerik analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Görüşme soruları yarı yapılandırılmış olarak uygulanmıştır. Nitel ölçme araçlarına verilen cevaplar kod ve temalara dönüştürülerek sıklık dereceleri belirlenmiştir. Nitel araçlara verilen cevapların sonuçları ile nicel verilerin örtüştüğü görülmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda bilimkurgu filmleri ve kitaplarının fen dersinde kullanılmasının öğrencilerin çevre okuryazarlığına olumlu katkı sağladığı düşünülmektedir.

The research was conducted to investigate the impact of usage of science fiction films and science fiction books on environmental literacy of 7th grade students. The focus of this study is determined as “Do sci-if films and science fiction books have impact on environmental literacy of 7th grade students?” The research was conducted in the first half of the 2022-2023 academic year, in the 7th grade of a secondary school located in Ümraniye district of Istanbul province, with 3 separate classes, 21 people in each and total 63 students among whom was no significant difference. One of the classes constitutes the control group and the other two constitute the experimental group. In the control group, the curriculum of the science course was followed with classical methods and techniques. In one of the experimental groups, 3 science fiction films about the environment were shown to be carried out together with a structuralist approach, and in the other experimental group, 3 science fiction books about the environment were read with a structuralist approach were read. The study was conducted for 6 weeks. In the study, quantitative and qualitative research methods and mixed pattern was used. In the study that lasted 6 weeks, Environmental Literacy Scale was applied as pretest and posttest in the form of environmental knowledge, environmental perception, and environmental behavior sub-dimensions as a quantitative data collection tool. The quantitative data obtained from the result of this test were analyzed with the SPSS program. As a result of the data obtained, a significant difference was found in some of the sub-problems of the study, which were measured with the sub-dimensions of environmental literacy of the experimental group 1 and experimental group 2. Another sub-dimension of the environmental literacy test was the cognitive skills test and the interview form applied to get students' thoughts about the study in order for the application to be evaluated qualitatively. Content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. Interview questions were applied in semi-structured way. The answers given to the qualitative measurement tools were converted into codes and themes and their frequency degrees were determined. It is seen that the quantitative data match with the results of the answers given to the qualitative tools. As a result of the study, it is thought that the use of science fiction films and books in science lessons contribute positively to students' environmental literacy.
